Huge Step Forward on Jerusalem's Temple Mount Takes Us 1 Step Closer to Jesus' Return
An extraordinary shift is underway on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount — a development that could signal we're entering the final chapters of biblical prophecy. Some Christian leaders now believe that recent changes at the sacred site are paving the way for the long-prophesied return of Jesus Christ.
In a compelling piece for the Jewish News Syndicate, Shlomo Vile chronicled how Jewish prayer has returned to the Temple Mount — a dramatic change from past restrictions. For decades after Israel reclaimed Jerusalem during the Six-Day War in 1967, Jewish worship on the Mount was heavily suppressed by both Muslim authorities and Israeli officials.
The Temple Mount is no ordinary location. It’s where Abraham prepared to offer his son Isaac — a foreshadowing of God offering His own Son, Jesus Christ. It’s also the site of both the First and Second Temples — the centerpieces of Jewish worship. The First Temple, which housed the Ark of the Covenant, was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 B.C. The Romans demolished the Second Temple in A.D. 70 — a place where Jesus Himself once taught.

“Members of the Muslim guard, the Islamic Waqf, would accompany the groups of Jewish pilgrims and would watch our lips to make sure that we weren’t praying,” Vile wrote. “The Israeli policemen also watched our lips and diligently enforced the prayer ban.”
That changed in 2017, after two Israeli officers were murdered on the Mount. In the aftermath, Israeli police began removing aggressive protestors and easing enforcement of the long-standing prayer ban. Slowly but steadily, Jewish visitors began praying openly — and even communally — on the Mount.
Then, in a historic moment on Tisha B’Av (August 12, 2024), Jewish worshippers were permitted to fully prostrate themselves on the ground — a biblical posture of worship not seen there in 2,000 years.
“You can feel your heart pulsing against the earth... This is a whole new and fully embodied avenue of soul expression,” Vile wrote. “We are privileged to live in a generation that can once again serve God on the Temple Mount.”

The development is more than symbolic. Knesset Member Tzvi Sukkot recently raised an Israeli flag and prayed on the Mount, declaring in a video: “When all security branches said, ‘If even one Jew prays... the Middle East will burn.’ And today, thousands of Jews prayed there, danced, sang, bowed... and nothing happened.”

This growing acceptance of Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount is stoking serious conversation about the building of a Third Temple — a prophetic milestone closely tied to the return of Jesus Christ in Christian eschatology.
David Herzog, co-founder of The Glory Zone Ministries, believes the groundwork is already being laid. In a recent video, Herzog shared that a friend with ties to both the Knesset and the Temple Institute confirmed that plans are in motion to begin construction of the Third Temple by the end of 2025, with completion projected between 2030 and 2032.
Herzog connected these prophetic stirrings to the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, likening his role to that of King Cyrus of Persia — the ancient leader who allowed the Jewish people to rebuild the temple after the Babylonian exile. In fact, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made that exact comparison in 2018.
Trump's push for Middle East peace, through the historic Abraham Accords in his first term and his renewed commitment to regional stability in his second term, has created what Herzog calls “a short time of peace and prosperity” — a divine window for prophecy to unfold.
Herzog also pointed to Ezekiel 42:20 as a potential blueprint — suggesting that the Third Temple could be constructed alongside the existing Islamic structures without interference, separated by a wall “between the holy and the common.”
According to Herzog and many Bible scholars, the Third Temple must be built before the Second Coming of Christ, as prophesied in 2 Thessalonians 2, Matthew 24, and Daniel 9. These passages speak of the Antichrist entering and desecrating the Temple before Christ’s triumphant return.

For those with eyes to see and ears to hear, the signs are unmistakable. The pieces are falling into place. And under President Trump’s bold leadership, prophecy is not just being discussed — it may very well be unfolding before our very eyes.
