Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell found himself injured early Sunday following a shooting incident at a party in Sanford, Florida, which turned chaotic with gunfire.

Dell was one of 10 individuals wounded during the altercation, as reported by the Orlando Sentinel.

The Texans announced Dell's involvement in the shooting through a post on X.

"We have been made aware that Tank Dell was a victim of a shooting in Sanford, Fla., last night," the post stated.

"He sustained a minor wound, but has been released from the hospital and he is in good spirits," the team assured.

"We are in contact with him and his family and will provide more updates when appropriate, but we ask that you please respect his privacy at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the incident," the post continued.

According to KHOU-TV in Houston, Dell hails from Daytona Beach, Florida, which is approximately 40 miles away from Sanford.

Reports from Houston’s KPRC-TV indicated that Dell was in Florida to visit his mother in Daytona Beach.

The shooting occurred in the early hours of Sunday when a teenage assailant unleashed gunfire during a private gathering, as per The Associated Press.

A brawl broke out before the shooting commenced, which came to an end when a security guard intervened, tackling and disarming the shooter.

Subsequently, a second guard handcuffed the assailant, according to the AP, citing an arrest report from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

Fortunately, none of the 10 wounded individuals sustained life-threatening injuries, with most wounds being below the waist, as reported by the AP.

A 16-year-old was charged with attempted homicide, discharging a firearm in a public place, using a firearm during a felony, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor.

The teenager was remanded to a juvenile detention facility.

According to the police report, the shooter was not involved in the initial altercation but began firing after it erupted. Law enforcement recovered a 9mm handgun at the scene.

Dell is known as a favored target of Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud.
