Obama Drops Alarming Response After Biden's Debate Face Plant Against Trump

Add former President Obama to the list of individuals who believe President Joe Biden stumbled significantly in his debate performance against former President Donald Trump.

The 44th President of the United States took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to defend his friend and former vice president’s candidacy.

"Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know. But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself. Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight — and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit. Last night didn’t change that, and it’s why so much is at stake in November," the former president stated.

Former President Obama famously had one lackluster debate performance against Mitt Romney during the 2012 presidential election, but that pales in comparison to the perceived trainwreck that President Biden had on Thursday night, and many X users were quick to comment.

"This is so embarrassing. We’ve never seen an entire party establishment have to run this level of damage control," Brandon Straka, founder of the Walk Away movement, remarked.

"If you were really a Friend of Joe, you would have a Serious Discussion with him about Stepping-Aside and allowing someone else to Run as the Democratic Candidate. Allowing him to Peacefully Retire to his Family Home in Delaware," another X user suggested.

"Mr. President...Coming from someone who was a lifelong Democrat that voted for you twice, it’s hard to convince me that everything coming from the current administration is the truth," former Capitol Police Lieutenant Tarik Johnson commented.

"I personally watched how this administration (with the help of mainstream) push a false narrative as it relates to January 6th which destroyed thousands of lives. I watched how this administration did nothing to protect whistleblowers from multiple agencies that reported details of the J6 set-up and the cover-up that ensued after.

"I watch how this administration allows thousands of illegals to cross our southern border daily and forced feed hardworking and struggling Americans to pay for their food, lodging, and medical expenses. You ran on change in 2008. I pray to God regularly that we get another one in November 2024. God bless," he said.

"Love you President Obama. But you are dead wrong. Biden is a dishonest train wreck. He got up there last night and lied out of the gate. I never felt he was for the everyday American and last night proved that, as well as how bad of a shape he is in. There is no way Biden gets my vote. Trump is the better suited of the two to run this nation. It’s not that I like him. I just believe he would be focused on what most Americans actually care about. And that’s... America," another user stated.

And former President Obama was not the only former president to weigh in on the debate fallout.

Former President Bill Clinton also shared his thoughts, choosing not to critique President Biden’s debate performance but instead taking a jab at former President Trump.

"I’ll leave the debate rating to the pundits, but here’s what I know: facts and history matter. Joe Biden has given us 3 years of solid leadership, steadying us after the pandemic, creating a record number of new jobs, making real progress solving the climate crisis, and launching a successful effort in reducing inflation, all while pulling us out of the quagmire Donald Trump left us in. That’s what’s really at stake in November," he said, while wisely disabling replies to his post.

His wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, did not mention the debate in her post.

"The choice in this election remains very simple. It’s a choice between someone who cares about you—your rights, your prospects, your future—versus someone who’s only in it for himself. I’ll be voting Biden," she said.
