AG Pam Bondi Out As Attorney General

President Donald J. Trump has removed Attorney General Pam Bondi from her post, marking a significant shakeup within the administration as it continues to recalibrate leadership at the Department of Justice.

The president confirmed that Bondi will transition out of the role, while Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will step in as acting attorney general on an interim basis as the White House evaluates a permanent replacement.

According to multiple reports, Bondi was informed of the decision during a meeting with President Trump in the Oval Office ahead of his national address on the war in Iran. By the time the president took the podium, her tenure as the nation’s top law enforcement official had effectively come to an end.

In a public statement, however, Trump struck a gracious tone, emphasizing Bondi’s loyalty and service to the country.

“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year,” Trump said, noting that she would be transitioning to “a much needed and important new job in the private sector.”

Behind the scenes, the move follows growing frustration within the administration over the Justice Department’s direction—particularly its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files and broader concerns about communication and execution of the president’s law-and-order agenda.

Bondi’s tenure, while marked by strong alignment with the president’s priorities, also drew intense scrutiny amid high-profile legal battles and politically charged investigations. The Epstein-related disclosures, in particular, became a focal point of criticism from both allies and opponents, contributing to mounting pressure in recent weeks.

Despite her departure from the attorney general role, Bondi is not expected to fully exit President Trump’s orbit. Reports indicate she may remain connected to the administration or transition into a role where she can continue advancing its broader objectives.

Meanwhile, Blanche—described by the president as a “very talented and respected Legal Mind”—will assume leadership of the Justice Department during this transitional period, as discussions continue over a long-term successor.

The shakeup underscores President Trump’s willingness to make decisive personnel changes as he pushes forward with an aggressive second-term agenda—particularly on issues involving law enforcement, accountability, and restoring public trust in federal institutions.
