Amazon Blames ‘Technical Issue’ For Early Posting Of Kirk Assassination Book

Amazon is facing intense backlash after a book about the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was listed for sale one day before he was actually killed in Utah.

The book, titled The Shooting of Charlie Kirk, was dated September 9, 2025 — a day before the conservative leader was fatally shot during a campus event at Utah Valley University. Outrage spread rapidly across social media, with supporters of Kirk calling the timing “eerie” and “beyond disturbing.”

Amazon quickly pulled the title once the date discrepancy was flagged, blaming what it called a “technical issue.”

“Due to a technical issue, the date of publication that had been displayed for this title, while it was briefly listed, was incorrect, and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused,” a company spokesperson told Breitbart News.

The retail giant also admitted the book violated its content rules. “We have content guidelines governing which books can be listed for sale, and we remove books that do not adhere to these guidelines. The title in question is no longer available for sale,” the spokesperson said.

Experts suggested the bizarre incident may have been linked to automated or AI-generated publishing slipping past Amazon’s review systems. But critics argue it highlights just how careless Big Tech platforms have become in policing their own marketplaces.

The controversy has only intensified the shock surrounding Kirk’s assassination. He was gunned down September 10 by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who allegedly acted alone and was turned in by his father. Investigators have since uncovered a trove of disturbing evidence, including engraved bullet casings referencing anti-fascist ideology.

Federal and state authorities are now probing whether leftist groups in Utah had prior knowledge of the plot. According to Axios, at least one activist organization abruptly deleted its social media accounts immediately after the killing, raising red flags.

The timing of the Amazon book release — paired with revelations of Robinson’s left-wing radicalization — has fueled speculation online that the attack was not as isolated as officials first suggested.

Turning Point USA described Kirk as “America’s greatest martyr to the freedom of speech he so adored,” pointing to the bitter irony that he was murdered during an event meant to promote dialogue and understanding.

A former high school friend of Robinson told The Guardian the suspect grew increasingly hostile toward conservatives in his teenage years, calling him “pretty left on everything” and the “only member of his family that was really leftist.”

With Washington already reeling from the shocking loss, the Amazon scandal has reignited concerns over whether tech platforms are enabling — or at minimum, normalizing — extremist violence against conservatives.
