Armed Man with Gun and Knife Detained at Charlie Kirk Memorial Venue

An armed individual carrying both a firearm and a knife was taken into custody Friday inside State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, where preparations are underway for the memorial service of conservative leader Charlie Kirk.

According to The Washington Post, Secret Service agents noticed the man after he began “exhibiting suspicious behavior.” When approached, the man falsely claimed to be working with law enforcement and admitted to being armed.

“The individual is not a member of authorized law enforcement working the event and is currently in custody,” the Secret Service confirmed in a statement.

Officials further noted: “The U.S. Secret Service and local law enforcement are investigating the circumstances as to why he was at the location.”

As of Friday evening, the man remained detained but had not been formally arrested.

Security on High Alert Ahead of Memorial

The memorial service for Charlie Kirk is scheduled for Sunday at State Farm Stadium and is expected to draw massive crowds. President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and numerous high-profile conservative leaders will be in attendance to honor Kirk’s legacy.

Federal authorities have elevated security measures, assigning the same designation typically reserved for the Super Bowl due to multiple threats tracked against the event. Glendale Police said they anticipate “more than 100,000 people” may attend.
