As UN Incompetence Pushed Him Over the Edge, Trump Took to the Floor and Delivered the Greatest Line in 80 Years of UN History

Fox News’ hit late-night program Gutfeld!, hosted by Greg Gutfeld, often runs a segment called “Donald Trump: We Don’t Deserve Him.” On Tuesday, President Donald J. Trump once again lived up to that billing — this time on the world stage at the United Nations.

Before his address, Trump and First Lady Melania were delayed when an escalator abruptly stopped. Then, during his speech, the teleprompter malfunctioned. For most politicians, two technical glitches in a row would have spelled embarrassment. But not Trump.

“These are the two things I got from the United Nations: a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter,” Trump quipped.

The line drew some chuckles — though predictably, the room full of stone-faced globalists refused to laugh. But back home, millions of Americans who love Trump couldn’t help but roar. As usual, he turned a frustrating moment into pure comedic brilliance.

More importantly, Trump used the occasion to remind the UN of its irrelevance. He pointed out that, despite its enormous budget and endless bureaucracy, the global body played no role in the peace negotiations he himself spearheaded.

“It’s too bad that I had to do these things instead of the United Nations doing them,” Trump said. “And sadly, in all cases the United Nations did not even try to help in any of them.”

Then came the question that cut through the UN’s self-importance:

“What is the purpose of the United Nations? The UN has such tremendous potential. I’ve always said it. It has such tremendous, tremendous potential. But it’s not even coming close to living up to that potential.”

Trump’s remarks followed a report from The Times of London revealing that UN staffers had joked about sabotaging his arrival by turning off escalators and elevators. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted the report, suggesting the possibility that the “technical glitches” may have been deliberate.

Whether the malfunctions were sabotage or incompetence, Trump’s ability to turn the moment into both humor and substance once again showed why his supporters believe he is a once-in-a-generation leader. He delivers truth with a punchline, exposing the corruption and futility of institutions like the UN — while keeping his audience smiling.

And if he ultimately kicks the UN out of New York, as many Americans hope, the case for Gutfeld’s favorite segment will be stronger than ever: “Donald Trump: We Don’t Deserve Him.”
