Bomb Squad Deployed At White House

Federal and local agencies responded swiftly on Thursday after a suspicious object was located just steps away from the White House, leading to the deployment of a bomb squad.

The item was discovered in a dumpster near the corner of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue—approximately 500 meters from the White House—and is currently under investigation by the U.S. Secret Service along with D.C. police.

As a precautionary measure, authorities locked down the surrounding area, including the nearby Ellipse, “to protect the people.”

Roads near the Treasury Department were also shut down, with images circulating online showing police vehicles blocking off access to the area.

At this time, officials have not confirmed whether the package is an explosive, and no injuries have been reported. While the situation continues to unfold, authorities are urging the public to avoid the vicinity.

Specialized bomb technicians and Secret Service personnel remain on the scene. More details are expected as the investigation develops.

This is a developing story.
