Bombshell Epstein File: Noam Chomsky Salivates Over Epstein's 'Penetrating Insights' in Unearthed Letter
The House Oversight Committee has released another massive batch of material from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate — 20,000 pages in total — and among the most disturbing revelations is a letter attributed to left-wing academic icon Noam Chomsky that appears to gush over the disgraced financier.
Chomsky, now 96, allegedly praised Epstein for his “curiosity, extensive knowledge” and even described him as a “regular source” of intellectual “stimulation,” according to documents made public on Nov. 12. The linguist — long celebrated as a hero on the progressive left — is portrayed in the letter as someone who maintained a deep admiration for a man already infamous for his predatory behavior.
A representative for Chomsky did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
“I met Jeffrey Epstein half a dozen years ago,” Chomsky allegedly wrote. “We have been in regular contact since, with many long and often in-depth discussions about a very wide range of topics, including our own specialties and professional work, but a host of others where we have shared interests. It has been a most valuable experience for me.”
The praise intensified in the next passage: “The impact of Jeffrey’s limitless curiosity, extensive knowledge, penetrating insights, and thoughtful appraisals is only heightened by his easy informality, without a trace of pretentiousness. He quickly became a highly valued friend and regular source of intellectual exchange and stimulation.”
These comments, if authentic, raise fresh questions about the judgment of one of the left’s most influential thinkers — particularly given that other documents show Chomsky remained in contact with Epstein even after the disgraced financier pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting prostitution from a minor.
Chomsky is widely credited as the father of modern linguistics and taught at MIT for over six decades before joining the University of Arizona in 2017. In June 2023 he suffered what his family described as a “massive” stroke and was reportedly recovering in Brazil as of mid-2024.
Yet his ties to Epstein persisted long after the financier’s first conviction. The Wall Street Journal reported in 2023 that Epstein arranged multiple meetings with Chomsky in 2015 and 2016 while he was still an MIT professor. When pressed by the outlet about the relationship, Chomsky curtly replied, “First response is that it is none of your business. Or anyone’s. Second is that I knew him and we met occasionally.”
Despite the troubling revelations, prominent progressives continue to laud Chomsky. Sen. Bernie Sanders declared in June 2024 that Chomsky is “one of the most important and ground-breaking intellectuals of the last century,” insisting his work has helped people understand “the oligarchic world in which we live.”
Similarly, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez praised Chomsky during a 2021 interview, calling it “such an honor and a culminating moment to be able to engage” with him.
Chomsky has long promoted libertarian socialism and earned notoriety as an aggressive critic of American foreign policy — positions that cemented his status as a major figure on the political left. But the latest document drop from Epstein’s estate is certain to fuel deeper scrutiny of who, exactly, Epstein cultivated — and why so many progressive elites continued to embrace him long after the world learned who he really was.
