Bombshell: Just-Released Letters Reveal Exactly How Hunter Biden Abused Gov’t Connections

A newly unearthed disclosure from the State Department is shedding fresh light on long-held suspicions — and unveiling striking new details — about Hunter Biden’s actions during his father’s tenure as vice president.

According to The New York Times in a report published Friday, a 2016 letter written by Hunter Biden shows he directly appealed to John R. Phillips, the U.S. ambassador to Italy, seeking help on behalf of a Burisma subsidiary. At the time, Biden held a well-compensated seat on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy firm.

Notably, this outreach occurred while his father, Joe Biden — now president — was serving as vice president under President Obama.

Written on Burisma letterhead and addressed to the “Honorable Mr. John R. Phillips,” Hunter opened the message with a casual tone:

“It was great seeing you in Rome recently,” Biden wrote.
He went on to describe his position “serving as a member of the Board of Directors at Burisma Group, the largest independent natural gas producer in Ukraine,” and also noted his role “as an Independent Director at Burisma Geothermal.”

He explained that Burisma Geothermal was a “new branch of Burisma group that specializes in geothermal development, drilling and operation of geothermal power plants.”

The purpose of the letter soon became clear. Biden stated that Burisma Geothermal “is currently experiencing certain difficulties obtaining authorizations that are issued by regional authorities.”

He added:

“I would like to take this opportunity to ask for your support and guidance in arranging a meeting for representatives from Burisma with the President of Tuscany Region, Mr. Enrico Rossi.”
He framed the meeting as a way to introduce the company’s geothermal initiatives and emphasized the potential “social and economic benefits for local communities” — ultimately seeking to “develop a common action plan that would lead to further development of the Tuscany Region.”

Critics of Hunter Biden have long argued that his political connections — especially those tied to his father — enabled him to secure high-paying roles, such as his position on Burisma’s board.

Access to the vice president’s orbit also opened doors to figures like Phillips, who could potentially aid Burisma’s ambitions abroad.

While the newly revealed letters don’t necessarily upend what’s already been alleged, they provide concrete details on how Hunter may have attempted to capitalize on his proximity to power.

In a follow-up letter from Ambassador Phillips, it appears Hunter’s request was at least partially granted — albeit with some cautionary framing.

“It seems like yesterday that you were in Rome,” Phillips wrote back. “I hope this finds you well. Thank you for your letter. I know Enrico Rossi well and have a good working relationship with him.”
He continued:

“I spoke to the Senior Commercial Officer at the Embassy, and though the amount of direct support we can provide to a Ukrainian company is limited, I’ve asked him to be the point of contact, see where our interests may overlap, and facilitate contact with Mr. Rossi.”
These kinds of disclosures may also explain why Hunter Biden made headlines this week for voluntarily relinquishing his law license.

As reported by Politico, Hunter gave up his license to practice in Washington, D.C., potentially to avoid “potentially protracted proceedings” tied to his past conduct.

Additionally, it’s worth remembering that Hunter Biden has already received a full and unconditional pardon from his father for any alleged offenses dating back to 2014 — the same year he joined the Burisma board.
