Bondi Confirms ‘Criminal Conspiracy’ Probe Into Obama-Biden Lawfare

Attorney General Pam Bondi has confirmed that the Department of Justice has launched a sweeping criminal investigation into what she described as a decade-long “lawfare conspiracy” rooted in the Obama-Biden years—an alleged scheme designed to shield Democratic elites from accountability while weaponizing federal power against President Donald J. Trump and his supporters.

In written responses to Just the News while recovering from eye surgery, Bondi said federal prosecutors and agents are actively examining what she characterized as a sustained campaign of political abuse stretching back to the 2016 Russia-collusion hoax and continuing through multiple election cycles. Importantly, Bondi framed the inquiry as a continuing criminal conspiracy, a legal approach that allows investigators to pursue accountability beyond traditional statutes of limitation by treating each act of political targeting as part of an ongoing enterprise.

“At my direction, our U.S. Attorneys and federal agents are actively investigating instances of government weaponization nationwide,” Bondi said. “This is a ten-year stain on the country committed by high-ranking officials against the American people. Under President Trump, we are fixing the damage and delivering justice.”

Bondi emphasized that the Justice Department and FBI have turned over an unprecedented volume of internal records to Congress documenting political bias and law-enforcement misconduct—far exceeding disclosures made by prior administrations. According to Bondi, those records collectively form the evidentiary foundation for the conspiracy case now underway.

Officials cited by Just the News said a significant portion of the active investigation is centered in Florida, where federal agents carried out the August 2022 raid on President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence. Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel have repeatedly described that operation as “excessive” and politically driven.

Bondi said newly uncovered evidence shows that senior DOJ and FBI officials routinely protected powerful Democrats while aggressively targeting conservatives under legally questionable theories.

“This evidence illustrates that the FBI shielded political figures like Hunter Biden and Hillary Clinton while pursuing conservatives for their beliefs, using legal process and operations that were excessive,” Bondi said. “They went so far as to serve search warrants that their own Department and law-enforcement officials believed were excessive.”

She added that internal communications reveal some FBI agents privately questioned whether the Biden-era DOJ even possessed sufficient probable cause to justify the 2022 search warrants executed against Trump and his associates.

According to Bondi, the investigation will test whether the oft-repeated mantra that “no one is above the law” applies equally to government officials who allegedly abused their authority.

“This Department of Justice takes government weaponization seriously. That means protecting civil liberties, preventing election interference, and holding bad actors accountable,” she said. “No one is above the law, even if they think they are.”

Bondi also singled out former CIA Director John Brennan, who has been subpoenaed by a Florida grand jury, accusing him of attempting to obstruct a lawful investigation.

“Public reports of a recent letter sent to Cecilia M. Altonaga, the Chief Judge of the Federal District of Florida, by John Brennan’s defense attorneys seeking judicial intervention in any legitimate grand jury investigation by the executive branch, shows these bad actors are clearly concerned about their liability,” Bondi said. “They want to preserve a two-tiered justice system—one for them and one for everyone else. No more.”

Her remarks come as FBI Director Kash Patel has ordered full cooperation with prosecutors, describing the probe as part of a broader pattern of “lawfare and election interference” that began under former President Barack Obama and continued through the Biden administration.

If prosecutors can establish continuity of the alleged conspiracy, legal experts note it could open the door to criminal charges against former senior intelligence, DOJ, and campaign officials for conduct that would otherwise fall outside statute-of-limitations windows—a tactic commonly used in organized-crime prosecutions.

Bondi concluded by pledging that the Trump Justice Department will deliver what she called “real accountability” for one of the most serious abuses of federal power in modern American history.
