Bongino Warns of 'Thugs' and Political Retribution After Unearthing FBI Corruption

Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has issued a chilling warning regarding the personal stakes of his mission to clean up the Bureau, revealing that he now lives with the constant threat of retaliation from the very "Deep State" he worked to dismantle.

In a candid and striking interview on the “Hang Out with Sean Hannity” podcast, Bongino detailed the terrifying reality of life after serving as the second-in-command under FBI Director Kash Patel during President Donald J. Trump’s second administration. Despite his successful tenure in securing the agency’s integrity, Bongino admitted that the "snakes" remaining in the shadows of the bureaucracy have made him a target for lawfare and physical intimidation.

‘They’re Going to Come for Me’

Bongino, a veteran of the NYPD and the Secret Service who stepped up to serve President Trump’s reform mandate in 2025, told Hannity that the risks he uncovered during his time at the FBI have fundamentally altered his sense of security.

“I’m scared, man,” Bongino told Hannity.

He explained that this fear isn't based on paranoia, but on the firsthand knowledge of how the weaponized justice system was used against constitutionalists in the past. Bongino stated that the thought crosses his mind every day: “they’re going to come for me.”

The ‘Mother Lode’ of Russiagate Evidence

The primary driver behind this looming threat appears to be Bongino’s discovery of suppressed evidence regarding the 2016 "Russia Hoax." Alongside Director Kash Patel, Bongino reportedly uncovered what he described as a “mother lode” of files related to the "Crossfire Hurricane" investigation—files that were allegedly destined for FBI burn bags to hide the truth from the American public.

Bongino was clear that his pride in these accomplishments remains unshaken, despite the personal cost.

“I know what I did. And I’m proud of my work,” he said. “And I am proud of what me and Kash [Patel] accomplished in the past year.”

A Warning to All Americans: The Return of Lawfare?

Bongino’s concerns extend beyond his own safety to the very future of the Republic. He expressed a dark vision of what could happen if the radical left regains control of the levers of power, suggesting that the "playbook" used to harass President Trump during his first term and post-presidency is being polished for use against his allies.

“I’m extremely concerned they are [going to] weaponize the justice system and start arresting people for jaywalking or mattress tag ripping,” Bongino warned.

He noted that even doing everything “by the book”—including hiring outside counsel to ensure total transparency during his tenure—might not be enough to stop a corrupt system from seeking vengeance.

“It doesn’t matter. They’ll rewrite the book just like they did for President Trump,” Bongino said.

Living in the Shadow of ‘Thugs’

Perhaps the most harrowing part of Bongino’s testimony was the mention of his family’s safety. He admitted to sharing these fears with his wife, specifically regarding the possibility of political enemies sending “thugs to my house” should the political winds shift.

“I live like this the rest of my life because I know how they are,” he added.

As the nation watches the ongoing efforts of the Trump administration to solidify the rule of law, Bongino’s testimony serves as a stark reminder: the battle for the soul of our institutions is far from over, and those on the front lines are paying a heavy price for the truth.
