Breaking: Armed Illegal Alien Wanted for Assault Killed by Border Patrol in Minneapolis After Attacking Officer, Riots Erupt

An armed individual identified by the Department of Homeland Security as an illegal alien wanted for violent assault was fatally shot Saturday morning during a confrontation with U.S. Border Patrol officers in Minneapolis, according to federal authorities.

The incident marks the second officer-involved shooting tied to federal immigration enforcement operations in the city in recent weeks and quickly triggered unrest and riots at the scene.

“At 9:05 AM CT, as DHS law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted operation in Minneapolis against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault, an individual approached US Border Patrol officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun,” DHS said in a post on X.

“The suspect also had 2 magazines and no ID — this looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement,” the post said.

According to DHS, officers attempted to de-escalate the encounter and disarm the suspect, but were met with violent resistance.

“The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted,” DHS wrote, adding that additional information would be released following the investigation.

“Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. Medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but was pronounced dead at the scene,” the agency said.

Federal officials also warned that the shooting occurred amid an increasingly hostile environment for law enforcement officers enforcing immigration law.

“About 200 rioters arrived at the scene and began to obstruct and assault law enforcement on the scene, crowd control measures were deployed for the safety of the public and law enforcement,” the post said.

Local authorities moved to restore order as tensions escalated. ABC News reported that Minnesota State Patrol declared the gathering an unlawful assembly and ordered the crowd to disperse.

Rather than condemning the violence directed at federal officers, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz again criticized the presence of federal immigration enforcement in the state, according to CBS News.

“Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now,” Walz said.

CBS News reported that the deceased suspect was 51 years old, though authorities have not yet released his identity.

The fatal shooting comes just weeks after the death of anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement protester Renee Good, who was killed after driving her vehicle toward an ICE agent during a previous confrontation — an incident that further fueled anti-law-enforcement activism in the region.

As President Donald J. Trump’s administration continues its renewed push to enforce federal immigration law and remove criminal illegal aliens, the Minneapolis incident highlights the growing resistance faced by officers carrying out constitutionally authorized duties — and the increasingly dangerous consequences of political rhetoric that undermines law enforcement.
