Breaking: Charlie Kirk Assassination Suspect Identified

The man accused of assassinating Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson of Utah, according to multiple reports.

NBC News, citing “five senior law enforcement officials,” confirmed Robinson as the suspect now in custody. The Associated Press also identified Robinson as the man held responsible for the killing.

Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason noted Thursday that the suspect had managed to evade detection for some time. “Blended in well with the college institution,” Mason said.

Earlier this week, authorities had detained two other individuals as persons of interest, though both were later released.

Following Robinson’s identification, images and videos purporting to show the suspect began circulating widely online.

Video from Dinesh D’Souza amplified the news across social media, fueling demands for answers.

The New York Times reported that Robinson was apprehended in St. George, Utah — approximately 250 miles from Orem, where Kirk was gunned down during an event at Utah Valley University.

President Donald Trump, speaking in a video posted to X, praised the individual who helped bring the suspect to justice. “Somebody who was very close to him turned him in,” Trump said.

According to the President, a minister recognized Robinson and alerted authorities. “He went to his father, went to the U.S. Marshal, who was fantastic, by the way,” Trump explained.

“And they brought him to a U.S. marshal, who was fantastic, and the father convinced the son that this is it,” Trump added.

The suspect’s arrest marks a critical development in a case that has shaken conservatives nationwide and left many demanding justice for a leading voice of the movement silenced by violence.
