Breaking: DOJ Subpoenas Ilhan Omar's Sister, Other Family Over Evidence of Fraudulent Immigration Paperwork

Federal agents investigating Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) have issued subpoenas to members of her family and people associated with her, The New York Times reported.

The subpoenas are part of an inquiry into whether fraud was involved in Omar’s immigration paperwork, according to the report. One recipient was identified as Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor, an author and health care professional. Noor has not publicly commented. At least one other family member also received a subpoena, the Times reported.

A subpoena is a legal demand for information and does not establish that its recipient committed wrongdoing.

The reported inquiry comes amid other questions involving Omar, including claims about her age when she obtained U.S. citizenship and the reported rise in the estimated value of businesses owned by her husband. Those companies were valued at about $51,000 in 2023 and roughly $30 million in 2024, according to the figures cited in the report.

Omar has denied wrongdoing.
