Breaking: ICE Officers Shoot Alleged Illegal Alien Gang Member Who 'Weaponized His Vehicle'

Federal immigration authorities were forced to take decisive action Tuesday in California after a dangerous illegal alien—reportedly tied to multiple homicide investigations across two countries—allegedly attempted to use his vehicle as a weapon against law enforcement officers.

The suspect, identified as Carlos Ivan Mendoza, is believed to have connections to violent gang activity and is wanted for questioning in connection with a murder in California, as well as another in his home country of El Salvador, according to reporting from KTVU-TV in Oakland.

The confrontation unfolded during what officials described as a targeted enforcement operation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). According to a statement shared by Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, acting ICE Director Todd Lyons made clear that Mendoza’s actions directly triggered the use of force.

Lyons identified Mendoza as a member of the notorious 18th Street Gang operating in Patterson and emphasized that agents were carrying out a “targeted vehicle stop” when the situation escalated rapidly.

“As officers approached the car, the wanted gang member weaponized his vehicle in an attempt to run an officer over. Following their training, our officers fired defensive shots to protect themselves, their fellow agents, and the public.

“The illegal alien was taken to a local hospital. The FBI is on the scene,” the statement said.

Mendoza’s condition remained unclear as of Tuesday, though officials confirmed that no ICE agents were injured during the incident—an outcome many see as a testament to both training and restraint under extreme pressure.

Local authorities reported significant disruption in the immediate aftermath. According to KTVU, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office issued a public alert around 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time, noting that multiple on-ramps and off-ramps along Interstate 5 in Patterson were temporarily shut down due to the shooting.

In a subsequent clarification, the sheriff’s office underscored that its personnel were not directly involved in the shooting itself.

Meanwhile, federal investigators have stepped in to ensure full transparency and accountability. NBC News reported that the FBI’s Sacramento field office has officially launched an investigation into the incident.

“We are conducting a thorough investigation in partnership with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office and are grateful for the Patterson community’s continued patience and support,” the bureau said in a statement.

As of now, authorities have not released further details regarding the homicide cases Mendoza is believed to be connected to, but the situation underscores the ongoing national security and public safety challenges posed by criminal illegal aliens operating within U.S. borders.

Under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, immigration enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to remove dangerous individuals from American communities—efforts that critics often downplay, but incidents like this bring into sharp focus.
