Breaking: Mitch McConnell Suffers Fall in Senate - Treated for Injuries on Site

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell experienced a fall at the Capitol on Tuesday following the Republicans’ weekly conference lunch, reportedly sustaining a facial injury.
“McConnell, 82, was treated by EMTs in his Senate office after the scrape, but his successor calmed nerves minutes later to announce the GOP leader was on the mend,” The New York Post reported.
“He is fine. He is in his office,” assured incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota in remarks to reporters.

The Post noted that McConnell has not disclosed whether he intends to run for re-election in 2026.
The Kentuckian earlier this year announced his decision to step down as Senate Republican leader, a role he has held since 2007. This tenure makes him the longest-serving leader in the Senate from either political party.
Back in July, McConnell abruptly paused mid-sentence during a weekly Republican leadership press conference. He appeared unsteady, prompting Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa to place her hand on his back to provide support.
In March, NBC News reported that McConnell had been released from a rehabilitation facility after over a week of treatment for a concussion sustained in a previous fall.
