BREAKING: Two American Troops Killed, One Missing After Iranian Attack in Jordan

Two American service members were killed and another remains missing after U.S. and allied forces came under a major Iranian missile and drone assault in Jordan.

The deadly attack occurred Friday, July 17, as American personnel worked alongside partner forces to defend against Tehran’s latest barrage, according to U.S. Central Command.

“On July 17, two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks,” U.S. Central Command posted on X.

CENTCOM also confirmed that one American service member remains missing in action.

“Four American service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals. They have since been discharged,” the post said. “Other personnel who were evaluated for minor injuries have returned to duty.”

The military has not yet released the identities of those killed as officials work to ensure their families receive notification before details are made public.

“Out of respect for the families, CENTCOM will withhold additional information, including the identities of the fallen warriors, until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified,” the post said.

The deaths underscore the growing danger facing American forces as Iran expands its attacks against U.S. military positions and regional allies.

Iran claimed that its forces targeted the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base and the Al-Azraq Base in Jordan, according to The Jerusalem Post. Jordanian military officials separately reported intercepting 10 Iranian ballistic missiles and four drones on Saturday.

Tehran also claimed that its strike on Al-Azraq destroyed at least two American fighter jets and three additional aircraft. That assertion has not been independently verified.

Iran has launched additional attacks involving targets in Kuwait and Bahrain, while reports also indicated possible Iranian action directed toward Saudi Arabia. The escalating campaign reflects Tehran’s willingness to threaten not only American personnel but also sovereign nations across the Middle East that cooperate with the United States.

The Iranian assault followed the seventh consecutive night of U.S. military strikes against strategic targets inside Iran. CENTCOM said American forces struck surveillance facilities, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons-storage sites, and maritime capabilities using fighter aircraft, drones, warships, and other assets.

More than 50,000 American service members are currently operating across the Middle East, according to CENTCOM, as the United States continues enforcing its naval blockade and responding to Iranian aggression.

The loss of two American warriors is a grim reminder that the Iranian regime’s attacks carry real and irreversible consequences. Their sacrifice deserves national honor, and those responsible must understand that targeting members of the United States military cannot be treated as just another provocation.
