Breaking: Ukraine Reportedly Accepts Trump-Led Peace Framework — Major Shift Toward Ending the War

A major breakthrough toward ending the war in Eastern Europe may now be underway. According to a U.S. official who spoke with ABC News on Tuesday, Ukraine has agreed in principle to the peace framework engineered by the Trump administration — a dramatic development that could reshape global geopolitics.

The official confirmed that a Ukrainian delegation reached an understanding with the United States during negotiations in Geneva, paving the way for what could become the conclusion of the nearly four-year conflict — the deadliest Europe has witnessed since the Second World War. ABC News first reported the story, which was later echoed by CNN.

The reported agreement came on the heels of undisclosed talks held Monday in Abu Dhabi between U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and senior Russian officials. Kyiv’s acceptance of the deal marks a significant diplomatic turning point, with the official telling ABC News that only “minor details” remain unresolved.
“There are some minor details to be sorted out but they have agreed to a peace deal,” the source stated.

Lt. Col. Jeffrey Tolbert, spokesperson for the U.S. Army, confirmed that Driscoll and his team were in active negotiations with the Russian side on both Monday and Tuesday, describing the process as steadily moving “in a positive direction.”

Despite the progress, both Russia and Ukraine have not publicly acknowledged dispatching negotiating teams to Abu Dhabi — a sign that all sides may be working to secure final terms before issuing a formal public statement.

The United States has confirmed the presence of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Driscoll during the meetings.

ABC News noted that the original 28-point peace proposal revealed last week has now been streamlined to 19 points. Notably, concessions such as wartime amnesty and limits on Ukraine’s military size — including Russia’s demand to cap its forces at 600,000 personnel — were removed in the revised document.

CNN added that there remains some uncertainty ahead. Russian officials could still abandon the talks if the finalized agreement diverges too sharply from the conditions President Vladimir Putin discussed during his visit with current U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska in August.

If confirmed formally by all parties, the Trump peace blueprint — once dismissed by critics as unrealistic — may soon become the defining diplomatic victory that ends the bloodshed in Europe and reshapes the global balance of power.
