Chick-fil-A Forced to Respond to Rumors About Massive Restaurant Change
Chick-fil-A, a company beloved by conservatives for its Christian values and consistent service, is now having to fend off rumors that it’s caving to left-wing eco-activist pressure — specifically, that it’s phasing out plastic straws nationwide in favor of the dreaded paper alternative.
The panic began, unsurprisingly, on Reddit — the digital watering hole of liberal groupthink — where one user sparked a firestorm by claiming, “Cfa now switching to paper straws from plastic,” after receiving one at their local restaurant. The user said their Chick-fil-A operator confirmed the supposed company-wide change.
But according to the company itself, that’s just not true.

In other words, if your local government banned plastic straws because some eco-activist demanded it during a city council meeting, don’t blame Chick-fil-A — blame your liberal legislators.
Still, the Reddit post went viral, igniting a fierce online debate over plastic versus paper. And the resistance to paper straws came from across the spectrum.
“I consider myself a leftist, but I’ll be damned if I ever give up plastic straws. Lol paper is the worst,” wrote one user.
“My location in Atlanta, Georgia, still has Styrofoam and plastic straws. It’s not good for the environment but great for my drinks,” added another.
That last comment may be more common sense than the Biden administration or California regulators are capable of expressing.
Let’s be honest: paper straws are a disaster. They dissolve in your drink, stick to your lips, and make everything taste like cardboard. And now the left wants to guilt-trip Americans into using them — even though many of these straws come individually wrapped in plastic. It’s performance virtue-signaling, nothing more.
President Donald J. Trump took a clear stand on the issue earlier this year with an executive order banning federal use of paper straws, calling the push to eliminate plastic “an irrational campaign.”
“[Paper straws] use chemicals that may carry risks to human health,” the order stated. “They are more expensive to produce than plastic straws, and often force users to use multiple straws.”
The order also pointed out the absurdity of replacing single-use plastic straws with paper ones that are — ironically — often wrapped in plastic.
“It is therefore the policy of the United States to end the use of paper straws,” it concluded.
But liberal states like California, New York, and Oregon remain committed to their crusade against convenience. After targeting plastic straws, bags, and utensils, the next step appears to be banning single-use cups entirely.

As usual, the left’s environmental grandstanding does more harm than good, while Americans are left sipping iced tea through a soggy, collapsing paper tube.
