Chris Cuomo Shreds Ocasio-Cortez, Says She Is ‘Killing Democratic Party’

In a stunning on-air tirade, NewsNation host Chris Cuomo unleashed on New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and the radical socialist wing of the Democratic Party, accusing them of driving the Left off a cliff with extremist rhetoric and politically suicidal tactics.

Cuomo, a longtime media figure and brother of disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, didn’t hold back — blasting Ocasio-Cortez’s latest call to impeach President Donald J. Trump for ordering airstrikes against Iranian nuclear sites, even though the move led to a ceasefire and avoided a broader war.

“You’re killing your party,” Cuomo warned on his broadcast. “And look, I hope it works out for you. I hope you guys splinter off and become, you know, whatever you really are, because you’re not a capitalist and you’re not a Democrat.”

The former CNN anchor pointed to Ocasio-Cortez’s long pattern of fringe-left positions — including support for defunding police, cozying up to anti-Israel causes, and now attempting to impeach the president for defending American interests abroad — as proof she is far removed from the values of traditional Democrats.

Cuomo said AOC and her allies consistently find themselves on the wrong side of “80-20 issues,” meaning positions that alienate the vast majority of Americans.

“How do you keep [Iran] from having the nuke? Impeach Trump is the opposite of having a better idea. You’re killing your party,” Cuomo said.

In a fiery defense of his political pedigree, Cuomo invoked his late father, former Gov. Mario Cuomo, claiming that neither AOC nor her fellow socialists are in the same league.

“You ain’t s**t compared to him. Not in terms of intelligence, not in terms of success, not in terms of pedigree, not in terms of philosophy, not in terms of mission, not in terms of eloquence, not in terms of charisma, not in terms of anything, certainly not electability,” Cuomo thundered.

He slammed AOC as a glorified influencer more concerned with social media clout than serious governance.

“You’re doing what’s good for you in a vacuum with your little social media following… and you’re killing your party.”
“Democrats better wake the f**k up and realize that you’re better than this. Be with the 80, not the 20,” he said, referring to the mainstream majority of voters.

Cuomo’s remarks came in response to AOC’s furious opposition to President Trump’s Iran strikes, which targeted nuclear enrichment facilities in response to intelligence about a potential threat. Despite the limited nature of the action and its success in brokering a ceasefire, AOC immediately accused the president of violating the Constitution.

“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” she posted on social media, calling for a third impeachment — which would make Trump the most impeached president in U.S. history, though none have resulted in removal.

But not even members of her own party are buying it.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), a progressive Democrat and Trump critic, dismissed the idea of yet another impeachment as unserious and harmful.

“Of course, no [he should not be impeached],” Fetterman told Fox News. “She knows it. I know it. We all know it… that is not going anywhere.”

Fetterman cautioned that throwing the word “impeachment” around like a political prop only undermines its gravity.

“I think if you throw that term around, that actually diminishes the severity of what impeachment is really reserved for.”

This isn’t the first time AOC has drawn fire from within her own ranks, but Cuomo’s takedown hit especially hard, given his family’s long legacy in New York Democrat politics — and the fact that one of AOC’s socialist allies, Zohran Mamdani, once unseated his brother in a mayoral contest.

While the radical Left keeps pushing further into uncharted political territory, President Trump’s foreign policy wins — including the de-escalation of nuclear tensions with Iran — continue to underscore the difference between leadership and ideology.
