Clinton Slammed for Calling Violent LA Riots “Peaceful Demonstrations,” Then Silencing Critics

Hillary Clinton sparked a political firestorm after characterizing the violent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles as “peaceful demonstrations” and pointing fingers at President Donald J. Trump for the chaos that engulfed Southern California. The former Secretary of State didn’t just mischaracterize the unrest—she also shut down the conversation by disabling comments on her X post, drawing even more backlash for what many called an act of political cowardice.

“Comments off lol. She can’t handle the ratio,” the popular conservative account Libs of TikTok posted in response. “This is what Hillary Clinton calls ‘peaceful demonstrations.’” Clinton had limited replies to only those she follows, essentially shielding herself from the avalanche of criticism.

In her lone comment on the riots as of Tuesday morning, Clinton claimed, “California Governor Newsom didn’t request the National Guard be deployed to his state following peaceful demonstrations. Trump sent them anyway... Trump’s goal isn’t to keep Californians safe. His goal is to cause chaos, because chaos is good for Trump.”

Her message struck a nerve nationwide—but not the way she intended. Critics quickly fired back, calling her out for minimizing the widespread violence and ignoring the very real threats federal officers faced on the ground.

“These are not peaceful, Hillary,” posted Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), voicing what many saw in countless videos: looted stores, burning vehicles, and masked agitators waving foreign flags in American streets.

Clinton’s effort to muzzle replies only further galvanized conservatives. “Ever notice that only leftists disable comments?” said John Dennis, Chair of the California Republican Liberty Caucus. Others called on X owner Elon Musk to block government officials—current and former—from silencing public discourse. “A public figure and a fraud like herself shouldn’t be able to lock her replies, @elonmusk,” one user posted.

The accusation that President Trump created the chaos was especially rich considering the timeline of events. The riots began Friday night after federal agents initiated long-promised immigration enforcement operations targeting illegal immigrants who entered during the Biden years—fulfilling a central promise of Trump’s second term: restoring law and order to a country left in disarray.

Local Democratic leaders—LA Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom—rushed to side with the rioters, condemning the lawful raids and voicing support for illegal immigrants. But the protests quickly turned violent. Law enforcement was pelted with projectiles, businesses were ransacked, cars burned, and major highways seized by mobs.

By Saturday, President Trump acted decisively, deploying 2,000 National Guard troops to restore order. Unlike weak-kneed governors who hesitate to protect their citizens, Trump bypassed Newsom’s inaction—using his authority to respond to a national emergency. Predictably, California Democrats filed a lawsuit to stop him, only to have a federal judge deny their emergency injunction request.

The unrest continued into Monday, prompting the Trump administration to escalate its response. U.S. Northern Command confirmed the deployment of nearly 700 U.S. Marines to assist in stabilizing the situation and defending federal assets.

“Approximately 700 Marines with 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division will seamlessly integrate with the Title 10 forces under Task Force 51 who are protecting federal personnel and federal property in the greater Los Angeles area,” the statement read, as reported by Fox News.

The facts on the ground tell a different story from Clinton’s sanitized narrative. Americans aren’t buying the gaslighting anymore. Her attempt to redefine chaos as peace—and silence dissent while doing it—has only reinforced what many on the right already believe: The Left doesn’t just ignore reality, they’re actively trying to rewrite it.
