CNN's Scott Jennings Lets Loose on Dems Over Charlie Kirk Killing: 'That View Is Killing People'
Salem Radio Network host and CNN commentator Scott Jennings blasted Democrats on Friday, holding them morally responsible for the poisonous rhetoric that, he argued, contributed to the assassination of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk.
Tyler Robinson, now in custody, is accused of gunning down Kirk during a TPUSA “Prove Me Wrong” event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. The 31-year-old conservative leader was assassinated on stage while debating students, shocking the nation and leaving his movement in mourning.
On his Friday episode of The Scott Jennings Podcast, Jennings played a montage of left-wing politicians and media personalities who have spent years branding President Donald J. Trump and conservatives as “fascists.” He then pointed directly at Democratic leaders and their media allies, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Dan Goldman, Rep. Jamie Raskin, Rep. Eric Swalwell, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
“You know these people,” Jennings said. “Whatever could have given Tyler Robinson the idea that Charlie Kirk and conservatives are fascists who want to destroy the country?” he asked with biting sarcasm.
Jennings reminded listeners that Harris herself elevated the rhetoric in the closing days of the 2024 presidential campaign, calling Trump a “fascist” on CNN during an Oct. 23 town hall, just days before labeling him “unstable” in a major speech. Clips of MSNBC hosts Joy Reid, Rachel Maddow, and leftist analyst Elie Mystal drove the point home.
“For the last ten years, the American left, Democrats and, yes, many in the media have dedicated themselves to branding Republicans and conservatives as fascists, Nazis,” Jennings argued. “The left normalized this language and the media platformed and endorsed it. The brand was created, the talking points went out, and it is now an article of faith on the American left that if you have voted for Donald Trump or espoused conservative views, you’re a fascist.”
He continued: “Every conservative view is met with, ‘that’s hateful.’ Every conservative view is met with, ‘that view is killing people.’ The killer of Charlie Kirk took the arguments made by Democrats on your televisions every night and wrote them on the bullets.”
A Pattern of Political Violence Against Conservatives
Jennings noted that the targeting of Kirk was not an isolated act. TPUSA chapters nationwide have faced hostility, harassment, and even violence for years.
- In January 2022, TPUSA’s Dartmouth College chapter was forced to cancel an event with journalist Andy Ngo and activist Gabriel Nadales due to threats from Antifa supporters.
- In May 2022, leftist students derailed a TPUSA tabling event at Lee’s Summit West High School.
- In April 2023, women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines was assaulted at San Francisco State University during a TPUSA-hosted event.
President Trump himself has survived multiple assassination attempts — including during his successful 2016 campaign and twice more during the brutal 2024 cycle. Jennings reminded his audience that the left’s rhetoric has only intensified over the years, feeding a climate where political violence is increasingly seen as acceptable.
“They have no idea how to debate,” Jennings said of Democrats. “So they use these labels and they did so with no thought whatsoever given to the implications.”
Now, with Kirk’s assassination, the consequences of that rhetoric are all too real.
