Former FBI Director James Comey is lashing out after his daughter, Maurene Comey, was abruptly dismissed from her prosecutorial role at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York—a termination that comes amid renewed scrutiny over her role in controversial, high-profile cases and the growing fallout from revelations of a politicized Justice Department under Barack Obama.

Comey issued a sharp rebuke in a Substack video posted Sunday, warning of what he called a “grave danger” to the public’s trust in the Department of Justice. Ironically, the man responsible for a complete collapse in public confidence in federal law enforcement—after overseeing the deeply flawed and now-debunked Trump-Russia probe—is now painting himself and his daughter as victims of politicization.

Maurene Comey most recently helmed the prosecution of hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and was previously involved in the murky federal cases surrounding Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, Newsweek reported. The DOJ has not offered a public explanation for her firing, but the move comes amid rising public demand for transparency surrounding Epstein’s connections to political elites, including those tied to the Obama years.

Comey read a letter penned by his daughter and followed it with his own commentary, claiming, “The reservoir is in grave danger right now.” He continued, “Trump and the hacks who lead the Department of Justice are hammering at the dam day after day, trying to turn it into just another gold-leaf-covered Trump subsidiary.”

He went on to lecture current DOJ employees: “You may get fired for acting that way, but there’s honor in that—and nothing but disgrace for those who don’t stand up.”

The irony is rich.

Comey’s sanctimonious performance comes as the Biden-era holdovers in the DOJ are finally being confronted with damning revelations about the origin of the now-discredited Trump-Russia collusion narrative. It was Comey himself who, in the heat of the 2016 election, reignited the Clinton email scandal just days before voters went to the polls—only to later become the face of the phony Russian interference smear campaign.

President Donald J. Trump fired Comey in 2017 during his first term, citing mishandling of the Clinton probe. But insiders long suspected the true motive behind Comey’s obstruction was to protect the Obama administration from scrutiny over its role in weaponizing federal agencies against Trump.

Now, years later, those suspicions are no longer theoretical.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released declassified documents on Friday confirming what conservatives have warned for nearly a decade: that Obama-era officials “manufactured and politicized intelligence” to launch a calculated assault on President Trump after he rightfully won the 2016 election. The documents implicate top Obama administration players—Barack Obama, James Comey, and members of the National Security Council—as architects of the long-running “Russia hoax.”

Gabbard didn’t mince words: “The information we are releasing today clearly shows there was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016 committed by officials at the highest level of our government.” Speaking to Fox News Digital, she added, “Their goal was to subvert the will of the American people and enact what was essentially a years-long coup.”

Gabbard has since issued a criminal referral to the Department of Justice, though officials have yet to confirm the exact target of the investigation.

For James Comey, the outrage over his daughter’s dismissal may be more than paternal—it might be fear.
