Declassified FBI Memo Shows Deeper Clinton Involvement In Russia Collusion Hoax

A newly declassified FBI memo confirms what many conservatives have long suspected: key players in the fabricated Trump-Russia narrative misled Congress—and the Justice Department looked the other way. The memo, released by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA), reveals that Nellie Ohr, a contractor for Fusion GPS, likely provided false testimony under oath regarding her role in the Clinton campaign-backed collusion probe.

According to the memo, Nellie Ohr denied knowledge of Department of Justice investigations into the Trump campaign during her October 2018 congressional testimony. However, the FBI’s own internal analysis paints a different picture—one of quiet coordination and shared intel that directly contradicts her sworn statements.

Ohr worked as a researcher for Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm hired by Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign and the DNC. Fusion GPS famously enlisted ex-British spy Christopher Steele to compile the now-debunked Steele Dossier—a document riddled with unverified and salacious claims aimed at Donald Trump.

Contrary to her testimony, Ohr funneled materials from her Fusion research to her husband, Bruce Ohr, then a senior Justice Department official. Bruce passed this information to the FBI, effectively making Nellie a central player in transmitting politically-motivated opposition research into federal investigative channels.

The FBI analysis cited in the memo shows that Nellie Ohr’s emails acknowledged the existence of the Trump-Russia investigation, and the bureau noted “textual similarities” between her Fusion work and official FBI documents—strongly suggesting her involvement went far deeper than she admitted to Congress.

The memo also confirms that the Ohrs met with Christopher Steele on July 30, 2016, just as the Clinton campaign was ramping up its effort to frame Donald Trump. During that meeting, they discussed allegations against Trump campaign aide Carter Page, a conversation that was later relayed to the FBI and helped fuel the bureau’s FISA warrant process.

The FBI concluded there was “probable cause to believe” that Bruce and Nellie Ohr were coordinating their professional activities surrounding the Trump-Russia investigation—blurring the lines between personal loyalty and professional misconduct.

Despite a 2019 criminal referral from then-Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), citing Nellie Ohr’s likely false statements to Congress, the Justice Department—then still mired in bureaucratic rot—chose not to pursue charges. Yet in a glaring contrast, the same DOJ aggressively prosecuted and convicted Trump ally Roger Stone for misleading Congress during the same era.

Grassley didn’t mince words in his statement: “By lying to Congress, Nellie Ohr showed contempt for congressional oversight and the American people. What’s more, the FBI and DOJ’s failure to hold Ohr accountable... reveals the agencies’ deeply disturbing political bias.”

He added: “The DOJ’s inaction on Nellie Ohr’s criminal referral – despite the obviously incriminating evidence provided in the FBI’s own analysis – undermines public trust in the rule of law.”

Grassley credited current FBI Director Kash Patel, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Deputy Attorney General John Blanche for their cooperation in declassifying the memo. The move reflects the new leadership’s commitment to transparency under President Donald J. Trump’s second-term administration.

The document also touches on a lesser-known but equally troubling facet of the collusion hoax: a second, discredited dossier written by longtime Clinton associate Cody Shearer. That document, passed to the FBI via Steele and a State Department intermediary, was described by the FBI as “obviously fictitious,” based on wild, unsubstantiated claims.

Still, the FBI noted that certain elements of Shearer’s “FSB Memo” overlapped with the Steele Dossier—raising alarming questions about whether Fusion GPS and its associates coordinated the use of false intelligence to lend credibility to their attacks on Trump.

Bruce Ohr eventually faced internal discipline and resigned from the DOJ in October 2020, but Nellie Ohr has faced no consequences. The same system that hounded Trump’s allies with full prosecutorial force continues to shield those who pushed the baseless Russia narrative that undermined a duly elected President.
