DOJ Announces Man Who Supplied LA Rioters Has Been Arrested
The U.S. Department of Justice has begun cracking down on those responsible for fueling the violent chaos that has plagued Los Angeles for more than two weeks, moving swiftly to bring federal charges against organizers and agitators behind the unrest.
Bill Essayli, U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, confirmed that federal charges have been filed against Alejandro Theodoro Orellana, who was caught on video handing out riot gear—specifically, boxes of heavy-duty face shields—during the most destructive night of violence on June 9.
Footage from a Fox Los Angeles affiliate shows Orellana pulling up in a black pickup truck to deliver equipment to the mob. Reporter Matthew Seedorff observed: “You probably don’t put on a mask unless you have a plan of not wanting somebody to see your face.”

View PlansOrellana was arrested by FBI agents on June 12 and charged with Conspiracy to Commit Civil Disorder (18 USC 371). According to Essayli, the DOJ is moving “quickly to identify and arrest those involved in organizing and/or supporting civil disorder in Los Angeles.”
Another agitator, Adam Palermo, age 39, has also been charged after he allegedly threw rocks and incendiary devices at law enforcement officers on U.S. Route 101. He faces four felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, one count of arson, and one count of vandalism, as announced by Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman.
On June 8, Palermo reportedly hurled a large rock from an overpass onto a California Highway Patrol vehicle and later tossed a flaming object onto a CHP SUV, which was engulfed in flames. He also posted disturbing images of the aftermath online, writing: “I’m most proud of what I did today.”
Federal charges have now been added to his growing rap sheet.
While the DOJ focuses on restoring law and order, Democrat leaders in California are complaining about the cost — not of the destruction, but of the federal response to stop it.
Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass took to social media to condemn President Donald J. Trump for deploying federal troops to stop the violence. They claim the $134 million cost to protect citizens and property should have gone to disaster relief.
“Just an absolutely shameful use of taxpayer dollars,” Bass posted on X.
“$134 million that should be going to LA’s fire recovery,” Newsom added.
But critics were quick to point out the breathtaking hypocrisy of their complaints. California taxpayers shell out tens of billions of dollars annually to provide services for illegal immigrants, dwarfing the cost of restoring public safety.
“Wait till you find out how many trillions we have to spend on illegal aliens,” White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller posted in response.
Andrew Clark, a campaign strategist, replied, “Now do the $9 billion you drained out of our state treasury to fund your free healthcare for illegals scheme.”

View PlansConservative filmmaker Robby Starbuck didn’t hold back: “THAT money should have gone to your citizens and fire recovery but you gave it to illegals.”
While California’s Democrat leaders defend anarchists and worry about budgets, the Trump administration is doing what it always does — putting the safety of American citizens first and demanding accountability from those who threaten it.
