DOJ Probe Targets Schiff, James as Trump Hints at Reversing J6 Committee Pardons

The Justice Department’s Weaponization Working Group is escalating its investigations into prominent Democrats, with Director Ed Martin confirming that criminal referrals involving Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and New York Attorney General Letitia James are under active review.

At the same time, President Donald Trump suggested that controversial pardons tied to January 6th and issued by former President Joe Biden may be rolled back.

“A Decade of Dirty Tricks”

Appearing on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, Martin told host Maria Bartiromo that Attorney General Pam Bondi has prosecutors digging into what he called “a decade of dirty tricks” aimed at Trump and his supporters.

“When Donald Trump came into office, he signed an executive order saying, go and find out how government was weaponized against the citizens,” Martin said. “Attorney General Bondi has that Department of Justice spinning like a top. A lot of it, we can’t talk about, but it’s going like crazy.”

Part of the probe is focused on uncovering the origins of the so-called “Russia hoax.” According to Martin, recently declassified documents submitted by former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard revealed coordination between the Obama administration and media outlets in late 2016 to drive the narrative.

Martin also confirmed DOJ is investigating allegations of false statements in mortgage filings tied to Schiff and James.
“Every American who has a mortgage has to follow the law,” Martin said. “If somebody did something wrong, we’re going to hold them accountable.”

Trump Targets Biden’s Questionable Pardons

Meanwhile, President Trump said his administration is considering action to undo pardons granted by Joe Biden in the final months of his failed presidency.

“They gave a pardon to the Unselect Committee, after they realized the whole situation was a hoax, and it was all their fault, including Nancy Pelosi,” Trump said over the weekend. “The autopen scandals are one of the greatest of our time.”

Trump was referring to revelations that Biden aides used an autopen machine to mass-sign thousands of clemency orders, raising doubts over whether Biden personally approved them. Reports indicate Biden delegated authority to then–Vice President Kamala Harris and White House staff, who affixed his mechanical signature to warrants impacting more than 4,000 individuals.

Some of those documents allegedly contained vague language that allowed violent offenders to slip through. Internal DOJ communications revealed unease among officials about whether the warrants were even legally valid.

A December 2024 White House memo drafted for Biden in simplified terms hailed his “historic action to grant clemency to over 1,500 Americans,” while bragging about positive press coverage. Axios later reported the spree was partly an effort to “flood the zone” after Biden’s politically explosive decision to pardon his son Hunter.

What Comes Next

While revoking pardons is rare in U.S. history, Trump’s comments make clear his administration is reviewing the legality of Biden’s last-minute clemency wave. The Trump White House Counsel’s office has already issued a memo recommending DOJ and Congress question Biden aides to determine whether the actions were properly authorized.

If Biden’s mass pardons were rubber-stamped with an autopen instead of genuine presidential approval, they could be ripe for reversal — setting up what may become one of the biggest constitutional battles in decades.
