Erika Kirk Addresses Candace Owens Meeting After Weeks of Speculation

Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, confirmed Monday that she held what she described as a “very productive conversation” with commentator and podcast host Candace Owens, following weeks of public controversy surrounding her husband’s assassination.

Kirk had announced Sunday that she and Owens agreed to meet privately and in person, emphasizing that all “public discussions, livestreams, and tweets are on hold until after this meeting.” The decision appeared aimed at de-escalating tensions that had built within conservative media circles.

Owens had previously raised a series of unsubstantiated conspiracy theories on her podcast and on X regarding Charlie Kirk’s September assassination, including claims that it could have been an inside job involving Turning Point USA, or linked to foreign intelligence services or even the U.S. military, according to reporting from the New York Post.

After the meeting concluded Monday, Kirk shared an update on social media, signaling a shift in tone.

“Had a very productive conversation with @RealCandaceO. More to come from both of us. Looking forward to AmFest this week. Time to get back to work.”

Owens echoed the sentiment shortly afterward, describing the length and substance of the discussion.

“Erika and I had an extremely productive 4 1/2 hour meeting that I think we both feel should have taken place a lot earlier than it did.”

“We agreed much more than I had anticipated. Of course, we also disagreed on various points and people as well. Most importantly, we were able to share intel and clarify intent. I will of course have a full rundown for you all tomorrow as I am currently exhausted, but I wanted to quickly let you guys know that absolutely nothing was held back and the immediate result was that tensions were thawed.”

Veteran journalist and podcast host Megyn Kelly later revealed that she had worked behind the scenes to help facilitate the meeting. Kelly said she had hoped Kirk and Owens might also appear together publicly, though that ultimately did not occur.

Kelly also forcefully rejected the idea that Charlie Kirk’s murder was connected to his own organization.

“I love the Turning Point guys, and I don’t believe for one second that any of them had anything to do with Charlie’s murder,” she said.

Last week, Erika Kirk addressed the growing conspiracy narratives during an appearance on Fox News, issuing an emotional response to critics and online commentators who have speculated about her husband’s death.

“Come after me, call me names — I don’t care. Call me what you want, go down that rabbit hole, whatever,” she said. “But when you go after my family, my Turning Point USA family, my Charlie Kirk Show family, when you go after the people that I love, and you’re making hundreds and thousands of dollars every single episode, going after the people that I love because somehow they’re in on this … No!”

Her remarks were widely understood as a response to podcasters and online personalities who have profited from speculation surrounding the case.

Kirk stressed that accountability remains her primary focus, assuring viewers that authorities will be pressed to pursue the truth fully.

“No rock will be unturned. I want justice for my husband, for myself, for my family more than anyone else out there.”

Utah authorities have charged Tyler Robinson as the gunman responsible for Charlie Kirk’s death, and the investigation remains ongoing.
