Ex-Dem Fundraiser Says Ashley Biden Threatened Lawsuit Over Claims About Joe Biden’s Decline

The Biden family is facing renewed scrutiny after a former Democratic fundraiser alleged that Ashley Biden threatened her with legal action for publicly discussing how party insiders concealed concerns about former President Joe Biden’s condition during the 2024 campaign.

Lindy Li, who once raised money for Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris and other prominent Democrats, detailed the alleged confrontation in her new book, “Unburdened.” She also supplied Fox News Digital with screenshots purportedly showing an Instagram post from Biden’s daughter that was later deleted.

According to Li, Ashley Biden published the message in February 2025, after the former fundraiser began speaking publicly about internal concerns regarding Joe Biden’s age and capacity to seek another term in the White House.

“They wanted to scare me. That was the goal,” Li told Fox News Digital.

Li has emerged as a vocal critic of the Democratic establishment since the 2024 election. She alleges that powerful figures within the party refused to confront—or honestly disclose—serious questions about Biden’s ability to withstand the demands of another presidential campaign.

Ashley Biden categorically rejected Li’s account and reportedly threatened to take the dispute to court.

In her book, Li described the post’s tone as so hostile that it “bordered on parody.” According to the screenshots provided to Fox News, Ashley Biden branded Li a liar and demanded to know whether she was “ready for a lawsuit.”

The post reportedly vanished approximately 24 hours later, and Ashley Biden never filed a lawsuit.

Li also challenged Ashley Biden’s assertion that she did not know the former fundraiser. Photographs supplied to Fox News showed the two women together on multiple occasions, raising further questions about that denial.

“Doesn’t even pass the smell test,” Li said.

Before her highly public break with the party, Li operated deep within the Democratic fundraising apparatus. She maintained relationships with major donors and Democratic National Committee officials while helping generate financial support for both the Biden and Harris political operations.

Those connections apparently deteriorated rapidly once Li began challenging the party’s insistence that Biden remain its nominee in 2024.

Li appeared on Fox News host Shannon Bream’s program on July 21, 2024—the same day Biden abandoned his reelection campaign—and publicly argued that he needed to withdraw.

“When I went on Shannon’s show to say Biden needs to step aside — and three hours later he did — my access immediately vanished and all my fears about speaking up were justified,” Li told Fox News.

Before that appearance, Li said she received invitations to White House events as often as every few weeks. After speaking out, however, the invitations stopped entirely.

Li considers the sudden loss of access an act of political retaliation. Fox News reported her allegation but did not independently confirm that Democratic officials deliberately excluded her as punishment.

The former fundraiser said she also contacted attorneys after Ashley Biden’s apparent legal threat. According to Li, her lawyers concluded that an actual lawsuit was unlikely.

One attorney reportedly suggested that filing a case could prove risky for the Biden family because the discovery process might expose internal communications concerning the former president’s condition and the Democratic establishment’s handling of it.

Li continues to stand behind her public statements about Biden and the Democratic Party. She also said she has never been informed which specific statement Ashley Biden believes could form the basis of a legitimate lawsuit.

The confrontation adds another chapter to the continuing controversy over what Democratic leaders, White House officials and members of the Biden family knew about the former president’s health—and when they knew it.

Biden withdrew from the presidential race on July 21, 2024, after his disastrous June debate performance against Donald Trump intensified long-standing concerns about his age and fitness for office. He quickly endorsed Harris, who secured the Democratic nomination before losing the November election to President Trump.

The questions did not disappear when Biden left office.

Former aides, journalists and Democratic officials have since presented conflicting accounts of the former president’s condition, how extensively senior officials understood the problem and whether the American public was deliberately kept in the dark.

For voters who watched Biden’s struggles unfold in public, Li’s account will likely reinforce suspicions that Democratic power brokers protected their political operation at the expense of transparency—and attempted to intimidate insiders who refused to maintain the party line.
