Family Reveals What Charlie Kirk Assassin Told Them Days Before Shooting
Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of assassinating conservative leader Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, had become increasingly political in recent years and openly hostile toward Kirk’s values, according to new details released by authorities.
At a press conference Friday, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) disclosed that Robinson had voiced his disdain for Kirk in conversations with family members before the deadly attack. “Investigators interviewed a family member of Robinson who stated that Robinson had become more political in recent years,” Cox revealed.
The suspect reportedly told relatives and friends that he disliked Kirk’s conservative worldview, claiming the Turning Point USA founder was “full of hate and spreading hate.” Robinson allegedly discussed Kirk’s scheduled campus event at UVU ahead of the shooting.
Cox confirmed investigators traced Robinson’s arrival to campus in a Dodge Challenger Wednesday morning. Surveillance footage showed him in a maroon T-shirt, light shorts, a black hat with a white logo, and light sneakers. When taken into custody, his clothing matched what appeared in the video.
Authorities recovered a bolt-action rifle wrapped in a towel, along with shell casings engraved with disturbing political messages. “Inscriptions on the three unfired casings read ‘Hey, fascist! Catch!’” Cox said, adding that they also bore cryptic arrow symbols.

Robinson’s father reportedly recognized his son in FBI-released surveillance images and urged him to surrender. With the help of a local pastor who contacted the U.S. Marshals Service, Robinson was arrested without further incident.
Law enforcement experts anticipate the case moving swiftly toward prosecution. Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker told CNN that investigators will now focus on forensic analysis, search warrants, and digital evidence. “There’s a whole lot of investigation now that will focus not on the manhunt part, but on building the prosecution part, matching all the evidence up to him,” Swecker explained.
Meanwhile, President Donald J. Trump praised Charlie Kirk’s legacy and vowed that Turning Point USA would continue mobilizing the next generation of conservative voters. “He had a passion for this. I spoke to his wife yesterday. She’s like devastated, but in between the devastation, they want to keep Turning Point going,” Trump said Friday on Fox News.
The President added that donations are already pouring in to ensure Kirk’s life’s work endures. “They want to keep Turning Point going. They think they can do that. He had a very good staff,” Trump said.
Kirk’s assassination has sent shockwaves through conservative America, but leaders are determined to honor his legacy by redoubling efforts to engage and inspire young patriots across the nation.
