FBI Carries Out Early-Morning Raid at John Bolton's Home: 'No One Is Above the Law'
Federal agents executed a search warrant at the Maryland home of former Trump National Security Adviser John Bolton early Friday morning, reviving a national security investigation that sources say the Biden administration previously buried for political reasons.
According to the New York Post, FBI personnel arrived at Bolton’s Bethesda residence around 7 a.m. as part of a years-long probe into his handling of classified materials. The operation, an administration official confirmed, was authorized by FBI Director Kash Patel.

The investigation reportedly dates back five years and centers on whether Bolton improperly retained or disclosed classified information, including materials tied to his 2020 memoir, The Room Where It Happened. While President Trump’s Justice Department initiated an inquiry into the book in September 2020, Biden officials dropped a related lawsuit and grand jury probe in 2021, the Associated Press noted.
A senior U.S. official told the Post that the Biden DOJ shuttered the case “for political reasons,” despite questions about Bolton’s handling of sensitive documents.
As agents conducted the search, Bolton’s verified X account published a post attacking President Trump’s Ukraine policy.
“Russia has not changed its goal: drag Ukraine into a new Russian Empire,” the post claimed, asserting that Ukraine’s president would “never” concede territory while suggesting Trump’s peace efforts were self-serving: “Meetings will continue because Trump wants a Nobel Peace Prize, but I don’t see these talks making any progress.”
The timing of the post—7:32 a.m., while agents were still inside Bolton’s residence—sparked questions among observers about whether someone else was operating his account during the raid.
Russia has not changed its goal: drag Ukraine into a new Russian Empire. Moscow has demanded that Ukraine cede territory it already holds and the remainder of Donetsk, which it has been unable to conquer. Zelensky will never do so. Meanwhile, meetings will continue because…

Bolton previously faced backlash for allegedly including classified information in his memoir. Though his legal team insists the manuscript was cleared by a White House National Security Council official, his public statements have often drawn criticism. A resurfaced 2022 MSNBC clip went viral Friday, showing Bolton mocking Trump’s handling of classified documents:
“I don’t think [Trump] cared about the classification system,” Bolton said. “I don’t think he appreciated the sensitivity of this information. … Some days, he liked to eat a lot of French fries. Some days he took classified documents.”

The Post also noted that the operation came just one day after Patel publicly alleged that former FBI Director James Comey had “authorized leaks of classified documents while misleading Congress” in the run-up to the 2016 election—an allegation that further highlights the deep-state double standards conservatives have long warned about.
