FBI Raids Soros-Funded Ohio Voter Group Amid Fraud Investigation
Federal investigators descended on the headquarters of a Soros-funded voter mobilization organization in Ohio on Thursday, marking the latest development in a growing federal probe tied to alleged fraud.
According to MS Now, FBI agents raided the Ohio Organizing Collaborative’s headquarters on June 11 while also questioning members of the organization across the state. Some individuals were reportedly approached with subpoenas or electronic devices.
A day later, multiple sources familiar with the matter told CBS News that the federal activity was connected to a fraud-related investigation.
The operation has quickly become another major flashpoint in President Donald J. Trump’s broader push to use federal law enforcement to examine alleged voter fraud and election-related misconduct — an effort praised by conservatives who have long argued that such cases were ignored or minimized by previous administrations.
Democrats and liberal voting organizations, however, have attacked the probe, accusing the administration of weaponizing the FBI against left-wing voter registration groups.
The Ohio Organizing Collaborative, commonly known as OOC, is a nonprofit group that works with the Democratic Party in Ohio on voter registration and mobilization efforts. The group has been especially active in ballot referendums and relies on a large network of progressive donors, including organizations connected to the Soros family.
The Department of Justice did not provide details about the investigation.
“Search warrants are authorized by a judge, and anything said by any organization or others in the media is unfounded speculation, as the target of any investigation is not privy to the search warrant affidavit until after indictment,” a DOJ official told Fox News.
The group has played a notable role in Ohio’s political fights. Last year, OOC spent $250,000 opposing a Republican-backed effort related to blocking the codification of abortion rights in the Ohio Constitution. It also spent another $300,000 on a later battle involving Republican redistricting efforts.
OOC’s political work is backed by a significant donor operation. Recent tax filings show the group brought in more than $10 million in revenue in 2024.
Its funding has come from several major Democratic-aligned donor networks and institutions, including the Soros family’s philanthropies, New Venture Fund, the Tides Foundation, the American Federation of Teachers, and the Service Employees International Union.
From 2019 to 2020, the Soros family’s Foundation to Promote Open Society gave OOC roughly $1.9 million. In 2021, the Open Society Action Fund gave another $1 million to OOC’s sister organization, the Ohio Organizing Campaign. That same Soros-linked fund followed with another $1 million contribution in 2023.
OOC has attempted to frame the federal scrutiny as political retaliation, accusing the Trump administration of turning the justice system against its opponents.
The group has faced controversy before. In 2017, a paid canvasser working with OOC pleaded guilty in connection with a fraudulent voter registration operation.
Republicans have continued to argue that election integrity must be taken seriously, particularly when powerful, well-funded political organizations are involved in registration and mobilization efforts. Democrats, meanwhile, continue to insist that Republicans have not produced conclusive evidence of widespread voter fraud in recent election cycles.

“How can they distract and intimidate civil rights leaders and voters and community leaders who are helping people get registered to vote, and create a national spectacle about it?” Prentiss Haney, an OOC board member authorized to discuss the matter on behalf of the group, told MS Now.
“That is the only reason why they would choose to do that, do it now, in the middle of a contested political election in the state. There’s no other reason. They have no evidence of that,” Haney added.
The raid also comes after President Trump earlier this year publicly called for federal racketeering charges against left-wing billionaire George Soros and his son, Alexander Soros.
“George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to ‘BREATHE,’ and be FREE. Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country! That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you! Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump added.
For conservatives, the raid underscores a long-standing concern: politically connected progressive organizations have operated for years with deep donor backing and limited accountability, even while shaping voter registration, ballot initiatives, and election outcomes across key states.
Whether the probe leads to charges remains to be seen. But the FBI’s move signals that under President Trump’s second-term Justice Department, election-related misconduct allegations are no longer being brushed aside.
