FBI Reveals Shooter’s Chilling Note in Dallas ICE Attack

Federal investigators say the gunman behind the shocking assault on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas left behind writings that confirm his intent: to spread fear and terrorize federal officers carrying out their duty.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that 29-year-old Joshua Jahn opened fire from a rooftop near the Dallas ICE office, killing one detainee and injuring two others before taking his own life.

In a post on X, Patel explained that agents have “been working 24/7 to seize devices, exploit data, and process writings obtained on location and in the subject’s person/residence/bedroom.”

Patel revealed that Jahn downloaded sensitive documents related to DHS facilities, conducted multiple online searches about weapons and ballistic capabilities, and even looked up the “Charlie Kirk Shot Video” in the days leading up to the attack.

Perhaps most disturbing was a handwritten note recovered at the scene. It read:

“Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, ‘is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?’”

Patel’s post on X here.

According to Patel, the evidence demonstrates “a high degree of pre-attack planning.”

Leaders Condemn Left-Wing Political Violence

Vice President J.D. Vance did not mince words in his remarks, telling NBC that Jahn was “a violent left-wing extremist” who deliberately targeted immigration enforcement.

FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Joe Rothrock described the shooting as “targeted violence,” while investigators confirmed that one of the recovered bullets was inscribed with the words “anti-ICE.”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem issued a strong rebuke to those who have spent years demonizing federal officers. In a statement posted on X, Noem said the shooting was “motivated by hatred for ICE” and blamed reckless rhetoric from the political left.

“For months, we’ve been warning politicians and the media to tone down their rhetoric about ICE law enforcement before someone was killed. This shooting must serve as a wake-up call to the far-left that their rhetoric about ICE has consequences.”

Noem added:

“Comparing ICE day-in and day-out to the Nazi Gestapo, the Secret Police, and slave patrols has consequences. The men and women of ICE are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters. They get up every morning to try and make our communities safer. Like everyone else, we just want to go home to our families at night.”

She concluded by urging Americans to reject the vilification of law enforcement:

“The violence and dehumanization of these men and women who are simply enforcing the law must stop. We are praying for the victims and their families.”

A Clear Warning

The Dallas attack underscores what conservatives have long argued: the radical left’s demonization of ICE and border enforcement officers isn’t just rhetoric—it is fueling violence. While President Donald J. Trump has vowed to restore law and order in his second term, this tragedy is a reminder of what happens when political movements excuse or encourage hatred of those sworn to uphold America’s laws.
