FBI’s Patel Shuts Down Resignation Rumors, Reaffirms Loyalty to President Trump Amid Epstein Controversy
FBI Director Kash Patel issued a forceful response on Saturday following rampant speculation about unrest inside the Trump administration over the fallout from the Justice Department’s decision to close the book on the Jeffrey Epstein case.
In a post on X, Patel made it crystal clear: he’s staying put.
“The conspiracy theories just aren’t true, never have been. It’s an honor to serve the President of the United States Donald Trump — and I’ll continue to do so for as long as he calls on me,”
Patel wrote.

His statement came after media reports hinted that Patel might resign if Deputy Director Dan Bongino chose to walk away over disagreements with Attorney General Pam Bondi’s handling of the Epstein file closure.
The rumors were further fueled by reports that Bongino had a fiery exchange with Bondi in a closed-door meeting involving White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. According to Fox News, Bongino abruptly left the meeting after the clash — prompting concern from grassroots supporters and independent journalists like Laura Loomer.
Adding clarity, White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Harrison Fields issued a statement dismissing the media narrative of internal turmoil:
“President Trump has assembled a highly qualified and experienced law and order team dedicated to protecting Americans, holding criminals accountable, and delivering justice to victims,” Fields stated.
“Any attempt to sow division within this team is baseless and distracts from the real progress being made in restoring public safety and pursuing justice for all.”
The unrest stems from a leaked DOJ memo that declared Epstein’s death a suicide and claimed no “incriminating client list” or blackmail operation was ever discovered — conclusions that enraged much of the MAGA base, especially given past promises of full transparency from Bondi herself.
President Trump personally intervened, taking to Truth Social on Saturday to defend Bondi and push back against the emerging infighting narrative.
“What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals’?” Trump asked. “They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening.”
Trump warned that the endless focus on Epstein is becoming a weaponized distraction — not unlike the Russia hoax or the fabricated Steele Dossier.
“For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again,” he wrote. “Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration?”
He also slammed the lack of transparency from the intelligence community when it comes to other deep-state files:
“Why didn’t these Radical Left Lunatics release the Epstein Files if there was anything in there that could have hurt the MAGA Movement?” he asked. “They haven’t even given up on the JFK or Martin Luther King Jr Files.”
President Trump reiterated his focus remains on real issues impacting American lives — securing the southern border, rebuilding the economy, achieving energy dominance, restoring national security, and safeguarding our elections.
Despite the noise, the message from the White House is clear: the America First team stands united — and President Trump is firmly in control.
