Federal Judge Smacks Down DNC's Election Lawsuit Against Trump Admin
In a stunning win for President Donald J. Trump and his administration, a federal judge appointed by Joe Biden delivered a legal blow to Democrats this week by dismissing a politically-charged lawsuit filed by the Democratic National Committee.
The case, which was designed to undermine President Trump’s efforts to restore constitutional accountability to bloated federal agencies, was thrown out by U.S. District Judge Amir Ali—a jurist handpicked by Biden himself.
The DNC had taken aim at several of President Trump’s executive orders, particularly the February 18 directive titled “Ensuring Accountability for All Agencies.” The lawsuit argued that Trump’s move to reassert presidential oversight over so-called “independent” regulatory bodies would somehow threaten the autonomy of the Federal Election Commission (FEC). But Judge Ali wasn’t buying it.

View PlansAccording to Fox News, Ali ruled that the DNC’s arguments were “too speculative” and lacked evidence of any “concrete and imminent injury,” effectively dismantling their legal attack.
President Trump’s executive order lays out a strong constitutional foundation for executive authority:
“The Constitution vests all executive power in the President and charges him with faithfully executing the laws,” the order reads. “Since it would be impossible for the President to single-handedly perform all the executive business of the Federal Government, the Constitution also provides for subordinate officers to assist the President in his executive duties.”
In the EO, President Trump calls out decades of unchecked bureaucracy, stating that past administrations allowed “so-called ‘independent regulatory agencies’” to operate with “minimal Presidential supervision.” That era, under President Trump’s leadership, is over.
The order clearly states:
“All executive departments and agencies, including so-called independent agencies, shall submit for review all proposed and final significant regulatory actions to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA)... before publication in the Federal Register.”
This commonsense policy of executive accountability is what had the DNC in a frenzy—filing the lawsuit just 10 days after the EO was signed. But their legal maneuver fell flat, with Ali emphasizing that their claims lacked the constitutional merit needed to proceed.
Even left-leaning Politico admitted the setback, noting that “the Democratic Party groups’ case was simply too speculative.” Judge Ali also referenced past concerns about the DNC’s overreach, stating:

While Ali did offer the DNC an opening to re-file the case if new evidence emerges, legal observers suggest this is little more than a procedural courtesy. As of Wednesday afternoon, President Trump had not issued a public comment—but insiders say the ruling further solidifies his mission to drain Washington’s swamp of unaccountable, unelected bureaucrats.
