While President Donald Trump’s administration continues its aggressive push to secure the border and restore law and order, even some Democrats are reluctantly voicing support for the crackdown—though not without political hesitation.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) issued a rare endorsement of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations after the agency announced it had arrested 214 illegal aliens in the Houston area over the past six months for immigration offenses, many of whom were charged or convicted of child sex crimes.

“I don’t support or agree with all of ICE’s tactics or actions. I do fully support moves like these. This makes our nation more secure and all our children safer,” Fetterman posted on X, acknowledging the necessity of enforcement in cases involving child predators.

The ICE statement highlighted the arrest of Jose Guadalupe Meza, a 40-year-old illegal alien and four-time deportee from Mexico, convicted of theft and sexual assault of a child. Meza was arrested on June 24 and deported again the following day.

Taking a much firmer stance, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) demanded justice that fits the crime. “Skip deportation. Go directly to the death penalty. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200,” Luna wrote on X, echoing the frustration many Americans feel over the repeated re-entry of dangerous criminals.

Despite this moment of bipartisan recognition, Fetterman remains aligned with his party’s opposition to President Trump’s border security agenda. He opposed the GOP-backed “Big, Beautiful Bill” that would have delivered massive funding boosts to ICE and completed the border wall initiated during Trump’s first term. Fetterman has previously called efforts to abolish ICE “inappropriate” and “outrageous,” yet his voting record suggests loyalty to the radical left’s open-borders agenda.

Paul McBride, acting field office director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Houston, emphasized the impact of the Trump administration’s policies:

“Bringing together the resources and expertise of the entire federal law enforcement community to confront the overwhelming surge of illegal immigration that we saw over the past four years has resulted in the arrest and removal of historic numbers of violent criminal aliens, transnational gang members and child sex offenders.”

Meanwhile, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, who oversees ICE under the Trump administration, found herself the subject of mockery from local officials in Kerrville, Texas, amid the July 4 holiday floods. Internal communications revealed a text from a city employee asking City Manager Dalton Rice, “Just saw you met Homeland Barbie. How is she?” to which Rice replied, “Basically Homeland Barbie,” followed by laughing emojis.

The exchange, now public through open records, has drawn criticism given the gravity of the disaster. Democrats, unsurprisingly, have tried to turn the catastrophe into political fodder. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) blamed the administration for alleged FEMA staffing issues but conveniently avoided addressing the failed leadership at the local level or Noem’s rapid response.

Secretary Noem defended the federal response during an appearance on Fox News Sunday, noting that more than 700 FEMA personnel were deployed within hours, alongside swift Coast Guard rescue operations.

As ICE continues its vital mission to remove violent predators and restore security to American communities, one thing is clear: under President Trump’s leadership, law and order is making a comeback—despite opposition from the left and media smears.
