Food Stamps Won’t Be Issued Nov. 1 Because Of ‘Senate Democrats,’ USDA Says

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is warning that tens of millions of Americans could lose access to food assistance next month as the Democrat-led Senate continues to block a Republican funding bill that would reopen the government without costly new social programs.

In a notice posted prominently on the agency’s homepage, the USDA stated:

“At this time, there will be no benefits issued on November 1st. Senate Democrats have now voted 12 times to not fund the food stamp program, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Bottom line, the well has run dry.”

The message further declared that the country is nearing a breaking point:

“We are approaching an inflection point for Senate Democrats. They can continue to hold out for healthcare for illegal aliens and gender mutilation procedures or reopen the government so mothers, babies, and the most vulnerable among us can receive critical nutrition assistance.”

The warning comes as the government shutdown enters its 29th day, with Senate Democrats refusing to approve a spending measure that does not include healthcare subsidies for illegal immigrants — a nonstarter for President Donald J. Trump and congressional Republicans.

Roughly 42 million Americans rely on SNAP benefits, which provide essential food assistance to low-income families, seniors, and children. In 2024, the federal government spent nearly $100 billion on the program, with the average monthly benefit totaling $187.20 per recipient.

Republicans say the Democrats’ demands would amount to $200 billion in taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants and billions more in wasteful foreign aid and partisan media subsidies.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said Monday that Democrats are to blame for the pain Americans are feeling during the shutdown, which began October 1.

“They’ve tried to say this is a fight about health care or this or that or any other thing,” Johnson said. “And it’s very simple. They made their demand in writing — and it has not changed.”
“This is what the Democrats in the Senate are demanding to reopen the government,” he continued. “They want to give $200 billion in health benefits to illegal aliens and noncitizens paid for by U.S. taxpayers. They want billions in wasteful programs to be returned to foreign countries. They want to give a half a billion to left-leaning news organizations and cut $50 billion from rural hospitals. We cannot, we will not do those things. And they know that very well.”

Johnson noted that the effects of the Democrat shutdown are now being felt across the country:

“Day 27 means it’s almost been a full month since the Democrats shut down the government,” he said. “The pain being felt by so many hard-working people around this country is very real and it gets worse with each passing day.”

More than 1.4 million federal workers have already missed paychecks — including air traffic controllers, TSA agents, Border Patrol officers, and U.S. military service members.

In response, President Trump has taken executive action to ensure America’s troops continue receiving pay, directing the Pentagon to use reserve funds to cover salaries during the shutdown.

Meanwhile, reports have surfaced that businessman Timothy Mellon, a patriotic railroad magnate, recently contributed $130 million to a Trump-aligned political committee — a sign that major donors remain steadfast in supporting the president’s effort to restore fiscal discipline and prioritize American citizens.

With food stamp benefits now hanging in the balance, Republicans say it’s time for Senate Democrats to end the political games and reopen the government.
