Fox News Co-Host Jessica Tarlov Mocked Over "Stupid" Take on Trump’s Tariff Move

Fox News co-host Jessica Tarlov faced heavy online backlash Wednesday after calling former President Donald Trump’s new tariff announcement a sign that he had "caved."

Tarlov’s comment, posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), didn’t sit well with many users, who blasted her take as “stupid” and accused her of completely missing Trump’s broader strategy.

Responding to journalist Sam Stein’s post highlighting Trump’s 90-day delay in implementing the tariffs, Tarlov wrote, “Trump surrendered. Carry on with your day”. The response from conservatives was swift and merciless, with many suggesting that Tarlov either failed to grasp Trump’s approach or was deliberately misrepresenting it.

Josh Barnett, a former Arizona congressional candidate, slammed Tarlov, writing, “Such a stupid thing to say… demonstratively demonstrating to everyone in this room how uneducated you truly are lol”.

Meanwhile, Trump defended his position on Truth Social, declaring, “Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%.” He clarified that other countries cooperating “in good faith” with the U.S. would not face the same penalties.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick praised the move as “one of the most extraordinary Truth posts of his Presidency,” while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent backed it, stating, “This was his approach all along… President Trump has put China in a precarious situation.”

Conservatives on X rallied around Trump and hammered Tarlov for suggesting he had retreated.

“You’re wrong,” one user wrote bluntly. Another user added, “This makes you sound so hilariously petty. 😂😂 This isn’t a cave at all. It’s perfect strategy”.

A third user mocked, “Anything Trump ever does—no matter how innovative or successful—is like a Rorschach test for you clowns. And every time you reveal so, so much about yourselves”.

Even parody accounts chimed in. A mock Elon Musk account posted, “He is literally raising their tariffs”, while another user sarcastically asked, “Jessica, do you want America to fail? Be honest”.

The financial markets responded almost immediately. The Dow Jones surged over 600 points, with notable gains also seen in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq. Analysts noted that Trump's decision to set a 10% tariff baseline for friendly nations could eventually establish a new global standard.

As Trump’s 2025 campaign gains momentum, his aggressive tariff move is being viewed as both a domestic win and a potent tool in foreign policy — a narrative that critics like Tarlov may struggle to spin as a loss.
