Fox News To Make Big Changes To Weekend Lineup
Fox News is preparing a major overhaul of its weekend programming beginning Saturday, September 20, reshaping its roster with new shows, fresh personalities, and expanded blocks of conservative commentary.
The most notable change is the end of MediaBuzz, the long-running media-criticism program hosted by Howard Kurtz since 2013. With CNN’s Reliable Sources canceled in 2022, the move marks the end of dedicated media-analysis shows on cable news.
Kurtz, who previously hosted Reliable Sources for 15 years before joining Fox, will remain with the network as a contributor. He described the end of MediaBuzz as “bittersweet” but expressed pride in its 12-year run and optimism about making room for new programming.
The shake-up highlights Fox’s pivot toward personality-driven formats and direct political coverage — a shift that has consistently outperformed traditional media-watchdog programming.
McEnany, Lara Trump, and Lahren Take Center Stage
Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany will launch Saturday in America, airing 10 a.m. to noon ET, where she will blend cultural and political interviews with her signature unapologetic conservative style. McEnany will also continue co-hosting Outnumbered during the week.
On Saturday mornings, Fox & Friends Weekend will add veteran correspondent Griff Jenkins as co-host alongside Rachel Campos-Duffy and Charlie Hurt from 6 to 10 a.m.
Saturday evenings will feature an expanded three-hour block of The Big Weekend Show from 5 to 8 p.m., now including new panelists Johnny “Joey” Jones and Tomi Lahren — voices representing both military service and a millennial conservative perspective.
Beginning later this month, The Sunday Briefing will debut at 11 a.m. in the slot once filled by MediaBuzz. White House correspondents Jacqui Heinrich and Peter Doocy will rotate as anchors, delivering sharp political coverage and in-depth policy reporting.
And in one of the most anticipated moves, former Republican National Committee co-chair and First Daughter-in-law Lara Trump has joined the network with her new show My View with Lara Trump, airing Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET.
“A gifted communicator who knows how to connect to the viewers, successful entrepreneur and working mother, Lara’s innate understanding of the American public and today’s political landscape will be a compelling addition to our weekend lineup,” Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said in the announcement.
Lara Trump, who previously hosted the web series The Right View and served as a Fox News contributor, called her return to the network a chance to celebrate America’s ongoing renewal.
“I’m thrilled to bring my voice back to Fox News, talk directly with the American people, and highlight what makes this country so great,” she said. “As I cover the success of The Golden Age of America, I look forward to where this time will lead our country and where this opportunity will lead me in the future.”
Strategic Realignment
Fox News Media president and editor-in-chief Jay Wallace said the September shake-up is designed to expand the network’s reach while cementing its dominance on the weekends.
“As we expand and innovate our weekend programming, we are proud to bring our audience unrivaled depth and expertise,” Wallace said. “This new dynamic roster underscores our continued commitment to delivering incomparable coverage, reinforcing Fox News Media as the leader in both news and opinion content.”
The shift illustrates Fox’s strategy: lean into trusted conservative voices with strong connections to grassroots America, while modernizing its lineup to hold off competitors. Kurtz’s transition from full-time host to network analyst ensures Fox retains an experienced media hand without devoting a dedicated slot to media criticism — a genre fading fast across the cable landscape.
Taken together, the shake-up signals Fox’s intent to showcase its next generation of conservative stars while keeping a tight grip on its weekend ratings dominance.
