GOP’s Brandon Gill Calls For Deporting Ilhan Omar Back To Somalia

Freshman Republican Representative Brandon Gill from Texas is urging the Trump administration to deport Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) to Somalia.

“America would be a better place if @IlhanMN were deported back to Somalia,” Gill posted on the X platform Tuesday.

Gill's tweet included a video clip of Omar, in which she appears to instruct Somali immigrants in the U.S. — possibly unlawfully — on how to evade federal immigration enforcement. The footage was originally shared by conservative influencer Greg Price, who claimed: “Ilhan Omar is now hosting workshops for Somalians living in the country illegally to advise them on how to avoid being deported.”

Many users on X supported Gill's stance.

“100%! She’s anti-American as they come. She pledged allegiance to the United States and has only ever acted against it. She’s a fraud, liar, and traitor to this country!” one user stated.

Another wrote, “Isn’t this against the law? Expel her!”

One commenter added, “She is committing federal crimes by telling illegal immigrants how to avoid ICE. She deserves to be investigated and prosecuted.”

Later, Gill reinforced his position, saying, “We should have never let Ilhan Omar into our country.”

A spokesperson for Gill told The Hill, “Representative Omar’s conduct raises questions about to whom she is most loyal—the American people or illegal aliens from Somalia. Representative Gill simply stated that it is disgraceful for a sitting Congresswoman and US citizen to facilitate the invasion of our country by illegal alien Somalis.”

In the video, Omar detailed steps for Somalians who are “undocumented or who their documentation might have lapsed” if they are confronted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.

“You are not obligated to answer their questions. Just state that you are advised by a lawyer not to answer questions,” Omar told the reporter. “Disclosure of your name, immigration status, and the mode of entry is not mandatory. Learn the laws and prepare yourself and refrain from disclosing information that you prefer them not to know.”

When asked on Monday about Gill’s remarks, Omar responded to Zeteo's Mehdi Hasan, saying, “These people are just idiots.”

“You and I have discussed people attacking you in the past, but you have this new freshman Congressional Representative, this lawmaker Brandon Gill, Republican, who tweeted out that video of you and wrote America would be a better place if Ilhan Omar were deported back to Somalia. I mean, I thought I’d seen everything, and I’ve seen a lot of attacks on you. But now you have a Republican colleague, dare I say, in the House saying to deport an American citizen, an American lawmaker, and an elected representative. How do you deal with that?” Hasan asked.

“These people are just idiots—I really am at the point where it has become really hard to have an intellectual debate with any of these people because the level of stupidity that they are displaying every single day is frankly, embarrassing. Not just in Congress but as Americans, and the fact that these people are allowed to say just the most ridiculous things tells you that the dumbing of the United States has arrived, because how else do we get a Trump presidency again?” Omar stated.
