Gutfeld Clashes With Tarlov Over ‘Both Sides’ Argument on Kirk Suspect

Tensions boiled over on Fox News’ The Five Monday as Greg Gutfeld tore into liberal co-host Jessica Tarlov for trying to frame the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk as part of a “both sides” narrative on political violence.

Kirk, 31, was gunned down last Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University. The accused killer, 28-year-old Tyler Robinson of Provo, Utah, was arrested after a nationwide manhunt and now faces capital murder charges.

Gutfeld set the tone early, underscoring the ideological reality. “What is interesting here is, why is only this happening on the left and not the right? That’s all we need to know,” he said.

Tarlov jumped in, attempting to cite other violent incidents, including the killing of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman. But Gutfeld cut her off sharply.

“None of us were spending every single day talking about Mrs. Hortman. I never heard of her until after she died. And the… Don’t play that bulls—t with me. There was no demonization, amplification about that woman before she died. It was a specific crime against her by somebody who knew her,” he shot back.

The exchange quickly escalated, with Gutfeld rejecting any attempt to equate Kirk’s assassination with unrelated tragedies. “The both sides argument not only doesn’t fly, we don’t care. We don’t care about your both sides argument. That s—t is dead,” he declared.

He accused the Left of fueling the culture of hatred that inspired Robinson. “If you sat around and you defended the mutilation of children, you’re not the good guys. If you sat [through] 600, 700 cases of harassment against Republicans and you said, ‘But what about this? What about this?’ And then you see this murderer after calling somebody a fascist, you realize, ‘Maybe I’m not the good guy,’” Gutfeld argued.

He went further, warning that Robinson’s ideology was rooted in destructive left-wing radicalism. “He was a patsy. He was under the hypnotic spell of a direct-to-consumer nihilism, the trans cult. If you can decide that biology is false, you can agree that murder is okay and that humanity’s expendable.”

Tarlov attempted to soften her remarks, insisting she wasn’t downplaying Kirk’s death, but Gutfeld didn’t relent. “Charlie had a conversation and he got shot. This thing is with us for good. … The media’s dead to us on this story. They built this thing up. We’re dealing with it. We’re gonna act. We don’t care what the what-about-ism is anymore. That s—t’s dead.”

The heated exchange underscores the growing frustration among conservatives who see a clear double standard: left-wing rhetoric fuels violence against Republicans, while media and Democrats rush to blur responsibility under “both sides” excuses.
