Harris Criticizes JD Vance with Incendiary Remarks Following Trump Rally Incident

Vice President Kamala Harris has accused Republican vice presidential nominee and Senator JD Vance (R-OH) of being “loyal only to Trump, not to our country,” just days after an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania. Despite President Joe Biden and Harris calling for calmer rhetoric on the campaign trail, Harris’s recent comments mark a sharp attack on Vance and Trump.

“Hey, everyone. So Donald Trump has picked his new running mate, JD Vance. Trump looked for someone he knew would be a rubber stamp for his extreme agenda. And make no mistake, JD Vance will be loyal only to Trump, not to our country,” Harris said.

“And unlike Mike Pence, Vance said he would have carried out Trump’s plan to overturn the 2020 election. He supports a national abortion ban and voted against protecting IVF. And if elected, he will help implement the Extreme Project 2025 plan for a second Trump term, which would target critical programs like Headstart and Medicare,” Harris added.

“But we are not going to let that happen,” she concluded.

In response, Vance sent a memo to supporters on Wednesday outlining his commitment.

“When President Trump asked me to be his Vice Presidential Nominee, this is what I told him: ‘Mr. President, it would be an honor to serve as your Vice President. During your time in office, America was at its best. Our economy was roaring, our border was under control, our cities were safe, and we were respected overseas. As your Vice President, I will faithfully serve by your side and make our country GREAT AGAIN!'” Vance stated.

“As my first act of being your Vice Presidential Nominee, I’m gathering One Million official Trump-Vance endorsements by the end of the day. President Trump will Make America Great Again, and I know together, we will win big,” Vance added.

Earlier this week, Vance shared with Fox News host Sean Hannity how Trump approached him to be his running mate. Vance, a New York Times bestselling author of "Hillbilly Elegy," a Yale Law School graduate, a former Marine, and a recently elected U.S. Senator, recounted the conversation.

“He just said ‘look, I’ve gotta go save this country. I think you’re the guy who could help me in the best way, you can help me govern. You can help me win, you can help me in some of these Midwestern states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and so forth,'” Vance said.

“Joe Biden is the one who’s tried to throw his political opposition in jail,” Vance said, referencing Trump’s indictment brought on by Special Counsel Jack Smith, appointed by Biden’s Cabinet member, Attorney General Merrick Garland.

On Monday, a Florida judge dismissed the case involving Trump’s handling of classified documents, just before the RNC started.

“Joe Biden is the one who’s trying to undermine American law and order. President Trump did a really good job. And I actually think it’s a good thing. When you see somebody you were wrong about, you ought to admit the mistake and admit that you were wrong,” Vance added.

Trump announced Vance as his running mate on Monday afternoon.

“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump declared on his Truth Social platform.

Trump emphasized that Vance, on the campaign trail, “will be strongly focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American Workers and Farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and far beyond….”

Before his political career, Vance was a successful venture capitalist. According to Fox News, Yahoo Finance reported that Vance’s Silicon Valley connections initially helped him bring investor dollars to Ohio and later supported his Senate campaign and the Trump campaign.

“After graduating from Yale Law School in 2013, Vance moved to San Francisco, where he worked at Mithril Capital, a firm co-founded by former PayPal CEO and Republican donor Peter Thiel. Vance also spent time in his early career near the nation’s capital working for former AOL CEO Steve Case’s venture capital firm, Revolution LLC. There he spearheaded a project to expand capital opportunities to small towns like Middletown, Ohio — where Vance was born,” Fox reported.
