Hunter Makes Head-Turning Claim About Dad’s Debate With Trump
Hunter Biden just dropped a bombshell about his father’s disastrous June 2024 debate against President Donald J. Trump—admitting that Joe Biden was taking Ambien, a powerful sleep aid, leading up to the widely panned performance.
In a newly released interview with YouTube personality Andrew Callaghan, Hunter blamed the prescription drug for his father’s shocking mental fog and lack of coherence during the first presidential debate, a moment that triggered full-blown panic within the Democratic Party and ultimately led to Biden abandoning his re-election campaign.
“I know exactly what happened in that debate,” Hunter Biden said. “He flew around the world. He’s 81 years old. He’s tired. They give him Ambien to be able to sleep and he gets up on the stage and looks like a deer in the headlights.”

What Hunter revealed raises serious questions—not just about Joe Biden’s ability to lead, but also about the trustworthiness of his inner circle and White House physicians. A memo released by Dr. Kevin O’Connor on February 28, 2024, following Biden’s physical exam, listed six medications—but Ambien was not one of them. The Post confirmed there was no indication in Biden’s public medical records that he had been prescribed the sleep aid.
Hunter did not specify how long his father had been taking the drug, but his admission confirms what many Americans suspected: that the leader of the free world was heavily medicated during a high-stakes election debate.
By the time of the June 27 debate, Biden had just returned from back-to-back foreign trips to France and Italy. He retreated to Camp David on June 20 to prepare for the event. But the preparation didn’t help.
“He’s tired as s**t. They’d give him Ambien to be able to sleep. He gets up on stage, and he looks like he’s a deer in the headlights,” Hunter reiterated.
Republicans and conservative commentators swiftly seized on the revelation, calling out what appears to be a coordinated cover-up by the Biden White House, Democrat operatives, and the corporate media.
“Not an insignificant question: how much Ambien was Joe Biden taking everyday as president?” asked CNN commentator Scott Jennings on X.
“The Biden White House, Democrats, and their allies in the legacy media LIED,” said Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee. “They insisted Joe Biden was ‘sharp’ and on top of his game. Now Democrats pretend the cover-up never happened.”
Indeed, Biden’s chaotic debate performance confirmed what conservatives had warned about for years—that Joe Biden was unfit for office, both mentally and physically. And now his son has essentially admitted it.
Following Biden’s withdrawal and Kamala Harris’ crushing defeat at the hands of President Trump in November, Democrats are in a tailspin. With Republicans now holding the House and Senate, panic has set in on the Left—and some are even turning to Trump for inspiration.
At the recent Hill Nation Summit, top Democrats broke ranks and issued praise for the 45th and now 47th President of the United States.
“Donald Trump’s a very talented politician, right?” said Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.). “I don’t agree with him as a leader. He’s a very talented politician.”
Even Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), who chairs the House Intelligence Committee’s Democratic wing, gave Trump credit for his foreign policy leadership, particularly in the Middle East, The Hill reported.
In an unexpected moment of humility, Khanna admitted the Democrats’ real failure wasn’t Trump or his supporters—it was their own contempt for average Americans.

With the 2026 midterms looming and Republicans holding a 220–212 House majority, Democrats are desperate to regroup—but the damage is done. Joe Biden’s Ambien-fueled collapse, the exposure of White House deception, and the resounding success of President Trump’s second-term leadership have left the Left reeling.
