ICE Busts Kenyan Sex Offender Working For Minn. Gov. Tim Walz

Federal immigration authorities have finally arrested a Kenyan national with a prior sex crime conviction in Minnesota — more than a decade after judges repeatedly blocked his deportation.

Wilson Tindi of Plymouth was taken into custody last week, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed to Alpha News. Tindi previously pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman after breaking into her Twin Cities home. Despite serving time in ICE custody, a federal judge prevented his removal from the United States.

Instead of being deported, Tindi went on to secure jobs with Minnesota’s state government, including a director-level post overseeing taxpayer spending and auditing accountability. His government career continued even as deportation proceedings dragged on between 2016 and 2018, when yet another judge ordered his release. Tindi has since claimed lawful permanent residency.

ICE: “We Had to Be Careful”

Sam Olson, ICE’s field office director in St. Paul, said the arrest came after an exhaustive review of Tindi’s criminal record.

“With any type of lawful, permanent resident, we have to work with our legal team to make sure the conviction would qualify for removability from the U.S. So, it did take us a lot of time and a lot of research with help from our legal team, who are amazing,” Olson explained.

Agents arrested Tindi outside his home, moving in as he opened his garage door. He was handcuffed next to his BMW without incident.

Olson said the peaceful arrest was a relief, since ICE officers have faced an alarming spike in hostility.

“Assaults on officers and uses of force are up astronomically. I’ve seen it close to like an increase of 1,000 percent on assaults on officers,” Olson said, adding that bystanders have increasingly interfered with arrests. “If it rises to a level that we can arrest, we will arrest and prosecute people who are trying to impede us from doing our job.”

Minnesota Under Scrutiny

The case comes at a time when Minnesota is making headlines for corruption and public safety failures under Democrat Gov. Tim Walz — the same Walz who served as Kamala Harris’ running mate in last year’s failed presidential bid.

Just weeks ago, the FBI raided the state’s Housing Stabilization Services program amid accusations of widespread Medicaid fraud. Agents executed warrants at eight locations tied to five providers accused of billing taxpayers for services never delivered.

Walz attempted to downplay the scandal, saying, “If you’re going to commit these crimes in Minnesota, you are going to get caught.”

But critics point out his administration has presided over ballooning fraud cases, unchecked immigration loopholes, and lax law enforcement cooperation — creating fertile ground for repeat offenders like Tindi to evade justice.

Adding to the scrutiny, a letter resurfaced last month from the Minnesota Catholic Conference, which had pleaded with Walz and the Democrat-controlled legislature for $50 million in school security funding. That request was denied — two years before the tragic shooting at Annunciation Catholic School, where multiple children were murdered.

At the time of the Catholic request, Minnesota was sitting on a multi-billion-dollar budget surplus, yet Walz and Democrats turned them away.

A Symptom of Soft-on-Crime Policies

The Tindi case underscores what conservatives have long warned: activist judges, progressive policies, and weak Democratic governance place public safety behind political correctness.

Instead of deporting a convicted sex offender, judges released him back into the community — where he was rewarded with cushy taxpayer-funded jobs. Now, after years of delay, ICE has done the job that Minnesota Democrats and liberal judges refused to do.
