ICE Releases ‘Iranian Army Sniper’ Living Illegally In US
A controversial immigration case has drawn renewed scrutiny after federal authorities released an Iranian national who had previously been detained during a large-scale enforcement operation in Tennessee.
According to reporting from Cullman Daily, Ribvar Karimi was released from custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement following his arrest during a multi-state enforcement sweep in June 2025.
Karimi was taken into custody alongside 11 other Iranian nationals during an operation in Locust Fork in Blount County, Alabama, according to information from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Details surrounding the conditions of Karimi’s release — including whether he remains subject to ongoing immigration proceedings — have not been fully disclosed.
Prior to entering the United States, Karimi reportedly served four years in the Iranian military before later obtaining a visa allowing him to travel to America.
The release comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tension as conflict involving Iran continues to dominate international headlines.
White House Pushes Back on “Fake” Iran Reporting
Meanwhile, officials inside the administration of President Donald J. Trump are aggressively pushing back against media reports they say are amplifying propaganda from the Iranian regime.
Karoline Leavitt strongly criticized major news outlets this week, accusing them of spreading false narratives suggesting that President Trump had entertained a supposed Iranian “10-point plan” as part of negotiations.
Administration officials say the plan — circulated by Iranian state media — was immediately rejected by the U.S. negotiating team.
Steven Cheung also blasted claims circulating online that the president had agreed to the proposal.
In a heated response on X, Cheung fired back at a post by British commentator Owen Jones.
“You have no idea what the f**k you’re talking about you loser. Go back to whatever hole you crawled out of because you clearly can’t read,” Cheung wrote.
Jones had shared the alleged 10-point plan originally reported by Iranian state media and claimed it represented a major geopolitical defeat for the United States.
“Have no doubt: This is the biggest strategic defeat suffered by the US since its emergence as a superpower,” Jones wrote.
The White House says those claims are completely false.
Trump Team: Iran’s Proposal “Thrown in the Garbage”
During a press briefing Wednesday, Leavitt directly addressed the controversy and accused journalists of repeating Iranian talking points without verification.
“I’ve seen a lot of inaccurate coverage today from the media about these negotiations and these plans already, so let me be clear and correct the record,” she said.
“The Iranians originally put forward a 10-point plan that was fundamentally unserious, unacceptable, and completely discarded.”
“It was literally thrown in the garbage by President Trump and his negotiating team. Many outlets in this room have falsely reported on that plan as being acceptable to the United States, and that is false,” she stated.
Leavitt emphasized that the administration’s position has not changed.
“The President’s red lines—namely, the end of Iranian enrichment in Iran—have not changed. And the idea that President Trump would ever accept an Iranian wish list as a deal is completely absurd.”
She continued:
“The President will only make a deal that serves the best interests of the United States of America, and he and his negotiating team will focus on this effort over the next two weeks—so long as the Strait of Hormuz remains open, with no limitations or delays.”

“These extraordinarily sensitive and complex negotiations will take place behind closed doors over the course of the next two weeks.”
Leavitt concluded with a warning directed at the press.
“I would strongly advise the media against running with narratives that have no basis in fact. What Iran says publicly—or feeds to all of you in the press—is much different than what they communicate privately to the United States, the President, and his team.”
“Never underestimate President Trump’s ability to successfully advance America’s interests and broker peace. President Trump has a proven track record of achieving good deals on behalf of the United States and the American people, and he will only accept one that puts America first.”
