Ilhan Omar Ripped For Vile Comments on Charlie Kirk Shooting
The assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk has not only drawn waves of grief and tributes from conservatives nationwide, but also a series of disgraceful reactions from left-wing figures and public employees that have ignited fury and triggered investigations.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), speaking to progressive outlet Zeteo, dismissed the notion that Kirk’s mission was about open dialogue. “There are a lot of people who are talking about him [Kirk] just wanting to have a civil debate,” Omar said.
“These people are full of s— and it’s important for us to call them out while we feel anger and sadness.”
Omar pointed to Kirk’s opposition to recognizing Juneteenth as a federal holiday and his criticisms of George Floyd as evidence of what she claimed was harmful rhetoric. “There is nothing more f—ed up than to pretend that his words and actions haven’t been recorded and in existence for the last decade or so,” she added.
Her response has drawn backlash, with critics noting that Omar appeared to grin while discussing Kirk’s death in a podcast with leftist commentator Mehdi Hassan.
Kirk, 31, was gunned down Wednesday while addressing more than 3,000 people at Utah Valley University. The rooftop sniper who fired the fatal shot remains at large as federal and local law enforcement continue their manhunt.
While some Democrats offered condolences, others sought to shift blame. Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker suggested President Donald Trump’s rhetoric played a role. “Political violence unfortunately has been ratcheting up in this country,” Pritzker said, adding, “I think there are people who are fomenting it in this country — I think the president’s rhetoric often foments it.”
Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) offered a more measured response, acknowledging that “political rhetoric, too, from both sides, often gets out of hand and it incites people to do things like this,” before reiterating that “political violence is never the answer.”
But beyond political talking points, the most disturbing reactions have come from within government service. A U.S. Secret Service agent, Anthony Pough, posted on Facebook: “If you are mourning this guy .. delete me. He spewed hate and racism on his show.” The Secret Service confirmed Pough has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation.
“The agency will not tolerate any behavior which violates our code of conduct,” a spokesperson said. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has demanded Pough’s firing, saying the remarks prove he is unfit to serve.
Other government employees have also faced swift consequences. A Marine Corps recruiter was terminated after posting a photo of Kirk with the caption: “Another racist man popped.” In Ohio, a Toledo Fire Department battalion chief is under investigation for declaring the assassination “totally preventable and avoidable if not for the policies and beliefs of people like [Kirk],” and writing, “Wish the guy was a better shot.”
As our nation mourns the devastating loss of Charlie Kirk, a rogue @SecretService agent posted on Facebook suggesting that he deserved to be murdered. I am calling for this agent’s immediate termination. It's time to root out the rot in the Secret Service. pic.twitter.com/ZAcppfA605

Meanwhile, vigils have been held in Utah and at Turning Point USA’s headquarters in Phoenix, where supporters gathered with flowers, candles, and American flags to honor Kirk’s memory. He leaves behind his wife, Erika, and their two young children.
The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the assassin, described as a lanky male dressed in dark clothing. Authorities believe the fatal round was fired from a rooftop approximately 200 yards away.
Charlie Kirk’s death has shaken the conservative movement — and the vile reactions from the left only underscore the deep political divide facing the nation.
