Illegal Migrant Arrested After Threatening to Assassinate President Trump, DHS Confirms
An illegal immigrant from Mexico is now in federal custody after allegedly issuing a chilling threat to assassinate President Donald Trump, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced on Wednesday that 54-year-old Ramon Morales-Reyes was apprehended on May 22 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following a direct threat against the President.
According to officials, Morales-Reyes sent a letter to an ICE field intelligence officer detailing a violent plan to assassinate President Trump. The threat led directly to his arrest.
The letter, which contained hate-filled language targeting white Americans, read: “We are tired of this president messing with us Mexicans — we have done more for this country than you white people. You have been deporting my family and I think it is time Donald J. Trump get what he has coming to him. I will self deport myself back to Mexico, but not before I use my 30 yard 6 to shoot your precious president in his head — I will see him at one of his big rallies.”
ICE agents located and arrested Morales-Reyes in Wisconsin. He is currently being held at Dodge County Jail in Juneau, Wisconsin, pending deportation proceedings. DHS reports that Morales-Reyes has illegally crossed into the United States no fewer than nine times between 1998 and 2005.
His criminal history is extensive, with charges including felony hit-and-run, criminal property damage, and disorderly conduct tied to domestic abuse.
Secretary Noem used the occasion to urge restraint from political figures and media personalities, warning that escalating rhetoric is fueling real-world threats against President Trump.
“All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric,” Noem stated.
She also pointed to a controversial Instagram post by former FBI Director James Comey that alarmed many Trump supporters. In the photo, seashells were arranged to spell out “86 47” — a sequence some interpreted as a veiled assassination reference aimed at the 47th President of the United States.
Comey was questioned by the Secret Service on May 16. He claimed there was no violent intent and has since removed the post.
Noem referenced another attempted assassination in July 2024, when then-candidate Trump was nearly killed during a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania. A bullet grazed his ear, narrowly missing a fatal impact.
These ongoing threats have prompted heightened security measures for top Trump administration officials, including FBI Assistant Director Dan Bongino and border enforcement czar Tom Homan. Yet left-wing media, instead of condemning the threats, appear more interested in nitpicking the cost of protecting public servants carrying out vital national security missions.
According to CBS News, which cited anonymous sources, Homan’s security costs average $500,000 per month. One official estimated the full monthly protection costs—including salaries, travel, and accommodations—are nearing $1 million.
“DHS ensures our leaders are safe and protected,” said Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin. She cited “dangerous rhetoric” from politicians and activists as a growing concern, especially as it leads to incidents like doxxing and physical attacks against federal officials.
“We will continue to take measures to ensure Mr. Homan and his family are safe,” McLaughlin affirmed.
Homan’s protection is managed by a rotating team of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents. Sources indicate roughly 30 agents rotate through shifts to provide round-the-clock protection.
“The protection for Homan — which includes a security detail at his home, when he drives to his offices in the White House West Wing and at Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s D.C. headquarters, or when he is out in public — is paid for by DHS,” CBS News reported.
As President Trump continues to uphold strong national security and immigration enforcement policies, these developments highlight the increasing hostility his administration faces—yet also underscore the unwavering commitment to safeguarding America and its leadership.
