James Comey Indicted: First Former FBI Director in U.S. History to Face Charges
Former FBI Director James Comey has officially been indicted, becoming the first person to ever lead the Bureau and later face criminal charges.
A federal grand jury returned indictments Thursday against Comey on two counts: making false statements and obstruction of a congressional proceeding.
According to Fox News, the case hinges on whether Comey lied under oath during his September 30, 2020 testimony regarding his role in the FBI’s now-discredited Trump–Russia investigation, internally codenamed “Crossfire Hurricane.”
The indictment was filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, just before the statute of limitations was set to expire.
This historic development comes only days after President Donald Trump demanded accountability from Attorney General Pam Bondi, pressing her to take decisive action against entrenched corruption within Washington.
The president has long insisted that Democrats and deep-state operatives—including Comey, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), and New York Attorney General Letitia James—must finally face the consequences of their actions.
