Jasmine Crockett's Finances Exposed - Subject to Personal Liens While She Spends $50k-100k of Taxpayer Cash on Limos, Luxury Hotels Just This Year

Texas Democrats may soon be dealing with a political headache of their own making, and her name is Rep. Jasmine Crockett. Thanks to the newly enacted Republican-drawn congressional maps — which appear likely to remain in place through 2026 — Crockett is poised to lose her House seat entirely. And for many in Washington, that outcome would be viewed as nothing short of a relief.

For Crockett herself, however, it’s an existential crisis. Losing her district would mean losing access to the corridors of power — and losing the ability to spend taxpayer dollars with her signature enthusiasm. That reality helps explain why her Senate run has suddenly become so critical to her political survival, and why Democrats are already bracing for a campaign they quietly wish would go away.

The financial baggage she brings with her is not going unnoticed. Crockett, who just launched her challenge against GOP Sen. John Cornyn, is now guaranteed weeks of unwelcome headlines about her chronic spending habits — including a $3,000 lien on her Dallas condominium.

At her announcement event Monday, Crockett made a theatrical effort to pick a fight with President Donald Trump directly. As CNN reported, she declared: “Trump, I know you’re watching, so let me tell you directly. You’re not entitled to a damn thing in Texas. You better get to work because I’m coming for you.”

Cue the dramatic music. But Republicans across Texas aren’t exactly quaking. In reality, Crockett’s entrance is likely a gift to the GOP. Even with a divided Republican field — featuring Attorney General Ken Paxton, Cornyn, and Rep. Wesley Hunt — Democrats had hoped 2026 might offer a long-shot opportunity to flip a seat. Crockett’s candidacy effectively ends that fantasy.

Paxton leads in early polling and is more aligned with the MAGA base, though more controversial than his rivals. But once Crockett becomes the Democratic nominee — and she instantly becomes the favorite for it — every criticism aimed at Paxton evaporates. A general-election matchup between the two would be no contest. Paxton could commit the worst scandal imaginable — “do it on live TV, even,” as the original text puts it — and he’d still be favored to win in a landslide.

Crockett also pushed out the only remotely electable Democrat in the field: former U.S. Rep. Colin Allred. That leaves her to battle state Rep. James Talarico, best known for saying during a House speech that “God is nonbinary” — a statement that somehow did not result in immediate divine correction.

But Crockett’s deeper problem is not ideology. It’s her finances.

Fox News reports that the Dallas County Clerk’s website shows Crockett — who earns $174,000 per year as a member of Congress — is behind on payments to her condominium association by $3,047.79, a lien that has been outstanding for more than a year. The official notice reads that she “is in default in her obligation for payment of assessments and has failed and refused and continues to fail and refuse, despite demand upon her, to pay the Association assessments and related charges properly levied against the Property.”

That revelation follows previous scrutiny over Federal Election Commission filings that show Crockett spent nearly $75,000 this year in donor funds on luxury hotels, high-end travel, and security in cities across the country — including Martha’s Vineyard, Chicago, New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. All this while representing a district in Dallas.

She also spent about $50,000 on security — remarkable given her position on police spending. In 2021, Crockett declared: “The defund movement seeks to actually bring about healing and finally invest in our communities to make them safer, addressing the root causes of crime and by allowing the professionals to do their respective jobs. Defund is about finally being smart on crime. Defund is about lightening the load for our offices of all things they didn’t sign up for. Defund is about finally being fiscally responsible when it comes to policing in this state.”

Yet she cannot manage to pay her own condo fees.

Democrats know exactly what they’re facing — and they’re not thrilled. As one longtime Democratic strategist told Fox News: “The more we learn about Jasmine Crockett, the more clear it is that she’s the worst possible candidate to run for Senate in Texas. Recent weeks have shown she’s just not ready for primetime.”

And as the article points out, she’s also “just not ready to pay her own bills.”

The modern progressive class may preach solidarity with “the people,” but unlike the old Soviet politburo — which at least pretended to live modestly — today’s Democrats increasingly view public office as a path to personal indulgence. Some obsess over reshaping American culture; others simply overspend. But in every case, the priority is themselves.

Texas voters now have a clear picture of who Jasmine Crockett is. The question is whether they will send her packing — after she first clears the primary field for Republicans’ benefit.
