JD Vance Calls for Ilhan Omar’s Removal After Controversial Video Resurfaces

Vice President JD Vance is leading renewed calls for the expulsion of Rep. Ilhan Omar after a past interview in which she appeared to promote racial profiling of white men resurfaced online.

The clip, originally from a 2018 Al-Jazeera interview, went viral this week after being shared by prominent conservative accounts like Libs of TikTok and Laura Loomer. In the footage, Omar discusses domestic terrorism and makes inflammatory remarks about white men.

“I would say our country should be more fearful of White men across our country, because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country,” Omar said at the time.

She continued: “And so if fear was the driving force of policies to keep America safe, Americans safe inside of this country, we should be profiling, monitoring, and creating policies to fight the radicalization of white men.”

The remarks quickly stirred outrage among Republicans and conservative voices, many of whom called the statements racist and dangerous.

“This isn’t just sick; it’s actually genocidal language,” said Vance in a post on X. “What a disgrace this person is.”

Senator Mike Lee echoed that sentiment, writing, “This is blatant racism. Who condemns it?”

GOP Majority Whip Rep. Tom Emmer added, “@ilhanMN never ceases to be an embarrassment for Minnesota.”

Influencer Paul Szypula added, “There’s never been a more anti-American member of Congress than Ilhan Omar.”

When contacted for comment, Omar’s office pointed to a response she posted on X, defending her remarks by citing statistics from the Anti-Defamation League.

“In this nearly 8-year-old clip, I am referring to the rise of white nationalism in an annual report issued by the Anti-Defamation League that stated white supremacists were responsible for 78 percent of ‘extremist-related murders,’” Omar wrote. “PS you should look up what ‘genocidal’ actually means when you’re actively supporting a genocide taking place in Gaza.”

Omar’s reference to genocide addressed criticism of her position on the Israel-Hamas war, which began in October 2023 when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, resulting in the deaths of over 1,300 people and the abduction of more than 200.

Omar has previously faced bipartisan rebukes over accusations of anti-Semitism, including from Jewish members of the Democratic Party.

Earlier this year, Rep. Brandon Gill, a freshman Republican from Texas, called on the Trump administration to deport Omar to Somalia.

“America would be a better place if @IlhanMN were deported back to Somalia,” Gill posted on X.

His comment accompanied a video shared by Greg Price showing Omar reportedly giving advice to Somali immigrants, including those living illegally in the U.S., on how to avoid immigration enforcement.

“Ilhan Omar is now hosting workshops for Somalis living in the country illegally to advise them on how to avoid being deported,” Price claimed in the post.

X users quickly backed Gill’s message.

“100%! She’s as anti-American as they come,” one commenter wrote. “She swore an oath to the United States but has only ever acted in opposition to it.”

“Isn’t this against the law? Expel her!” said another.

“She is committing federal crimes by advising illegal immigrants on how to avoid ICE. She should be investigated and prosecuted,” a third user added.

Gill later told reporters, “We should have never let Ilhan Omar into our country.”

A spokesperson for his office told The Hill, “Representative Omar’s behavior raises concerns about where her true loyalty lies—with the American people or illegal aliens from Somalia.”

They continued, “Representative Gill simply pointed out that it is disgraceful for a sitting Congresswoman and U.S. citizen to aid in the invasion of our country by illegal alien Somalis.”

While conspiracy theories about Omar entering the U.S. through fraudulent means have circulated for years, no concrete evidence has ever been presented to substantiate those claims.
